UbiSoft has been quite quiet about their recent trademark filing of “Future Soldier” but today Ubisoft announced that not only the trademark was in fact, for a Ghost Recon story. It also takes the series much further than Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2; we do not know which year, or when. What, we DO know is that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is coming to Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP.
UbiSoft CEO Yves Guillermot said that the Wii, DS, and PSP versions of the game will be developed by a different team. She also specifically said that the Wii version will be developed with the console’s owners in mind.
UbiSoft also released a teaser trailer for the game:
Here’s what we know so far from the trailer:
– It is an installment in the series, the latest.
– “The soldier of the future is an F-16 on legs.” A quote by U.S. Army Natick Research and Development Engineer Jean-Louis DeGay
– The game will “go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience.”
– Those planning to pick up Splinter Cell: Conviction in a couple of months will gain access to the multiplayer beta coming this summer.
– The game looks to take place in the middle east, and more specifically Russia and Afghanistan.
– “The future of war” begins Fall 2010.
Are you ready to take your tactical ideas into the future of war?
Activision is yet to confirm a concrete release date for the game, but looking at the history of the Call of Duty series and their past release dates over the last 5 years, we estimate the game will hit shelves sometime during the week starting November 8th, 2010.
Its been 22 years since Blaster Master debuted on NES, it had only two sequels and two spinoffs. Blaster Master 2 was released for genesis, Master Blaster Boy for GameBoy, and finally, the last release was Blaster Master: Blasting Again for PlayStation. Overdrive is a crossover between a re-make and a direct sequel to the original Blaster Master, as the story takes place in the original’s storyline.
So far, we know that Sunsoft was recently incorporated to bring classics back to life. Blaster Master is one of them. Here‘s a post where the surprise announcement was started. In their words Blaster Master Overdrive is:
Halfway between both, more like a re-imagining. I would have liked to restore the Meta Fight storyline, but this was already pretty far along when I came on. It’s based on the original US storyline, but some things are changed. For example, the hero (Alexander/Alex) in this one is an adult trying to save his family…AND MANKIND. Mix of old and new mutants, mix of similar and new bosses, somewhat different ending.
SUNSOFT, a division of SUNCORPORATION (JASDAQ: 6736), has today announced that BLASTER MASTER:OVERDRIVE will be available in North America on February 8th for WiiWare.
BLASTER MASTER:OVERDRIVE is an action-shooting game that takes place on an Earth infected by an aggressive, polymorphic virus. Poor, defenseless animals worldwide infected by the virus have been turned into flesh-eating, hemoglobin-swilling terrors. Fortunately, the world has Alex. And, even more coincidentally, he happens to be one of the world’s foremost biologists – specializing in viral mutation profiles and genetic manipulation.
Every studious biologist facing imminent global annihilation needs a sweet ride, and Alex is no exception. He has S.O.P.H.I.A., a shape-shifting, gas-guzzling, projectile-spewing paean to destruction on four wheels. Things look grim, but with Alex and S.O.P.H.I.A. on the case, the world just may have a chance.
Gameplay in BLASTER MASTER:OVERDRIVE retains the critically acclaimed format of the original NES BLASTER MASTER, alternating between side-scrolling platforming in S.O.P.H.I.A. and overhead-perspective blasting and exploration when controlling Alex. Upgrades for S.O.P.H.I.A. must be collected to access progressively more challenging terrain and a total of eight distinct areas. Each area features a mutant boss that must be defeated to progress.
The sublime blend of side-scrolling shooting/platforming mixed with overhead perspective action/shooting areas is just as addictive now as it was in the original game. The game is rated E10 for Mild Fantasy Violence and can be purchased from the Wii Store online for 1000 Wii points beginning February 8th, 2010.
As with the BLASTER MASTER NES Virtual Console release, fans are encouraged to improve their skills completing this game so they can compete and win in a coming promotion that will test their skill for collectible prizes.
Here’s the statistical information we have so far on Blaster Master:
BLASTER MASTER OVERDRIVE
Publisher: SUNSOFT
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E10+ (Everyone 10 and Older) – Mild Fantasy Violence

For quite a while, there has been rumors flying around that Project Needlemouse would be Sonic 4. SEGA posted a countdown from day to day until it was unveiled that Needlemouse is indeed Sonic 4. But not just straight up “Sonic 4,” its going back to its roots by using the full “Sonic The Hedgehog” moniker. For many years, Sonic has been running around with plain old “Sonic” and then a subtitle. That is not the case with Sonic 4 because it is called “Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1.”
Wait a minute, did I just say “Episode?” Well, yes I did. That’s because SEGA is writing a bigger story than the title’s name. In an interview with GameSpot, SEGA Associate Brand Manager Ken Balough said that Sonic 4 is brand new game; “what you are looking at is the beginning of a new story arc.” Similar in vein to the connection between Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 4: Episode 1 is the beginning of a series of DLC’s SEGA hopes to release.
Ken tried to ease worries that many feared this would be turning into yet, another cash-in;
I think the best way to view it is as a first part in a much larger adventure. When Sega released Sonic 3, ultimately it was the part 1 of a story that saw its conclusion in Sonic & Knuckles. In that same spirit, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a bigger story, and this is that first chapter. I think it’s also safe to say that by the end of the episode one, fans will be very excited to see what’s in store for episode two!
Most episodic content usually end at either episode 1 or episode 2. Recently, we’ve seen only two map packs for most FPS titles out there. So, I wouldn’t be surprised.
The press release below was posted on Sega Europe‘s blog:
SEGA Europe Ltd. and SEGA of America, Inc. today announced the first game developed specifically for the download market from the world’s fastest hedgehog. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I will be available via download on Microsoft XBLA, Sony PSN and Nintendo WiiWare, bringing with it the addictive classic 2D side scrolling action that Sonic fans have been waiting for.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I offers sublime 2D gameplay through beautifully rendered HD environments. Fans will be able to speed through each level with the classic Spin Dash move, and destroy enemies using the Homing Attack. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I sees the return of the much-loved special stages and takes players through a variety of different Zones, all inspired by the Mega Drive era.
Each level from Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I is separately selectable from the main menu, making it easy for players to replay their favorite sections as they wish. Long time fans will not be disappointed as they rejoin the action and face all new intense boss battles against everyone’s favourite villain – the ever devious and evil – Dr. Eggman!
“Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I is a return to the classic game style of the original Sonic games” commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director SEGA Europe Ltd. “It’s great to be able to offer fans of the Sonic series the type of game they have been asking for in a high definition experience.”
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I will be available in Summer 2010 for XBLA, PSN, and WiiWare.
Still not satisfied with your Sonic fix? Here’s the story as it follows:
Story thus far:
It began as Sonic’s animal friends begin disappearing from South Island. Soon Sonic discovers that evil scientist Dr. Eggman has been kidnapping them and turning them into robots to collect the legendary treasure – The Chaos Emeralds. Sonic decides it’s up to him to save them and embarks on a quest to free his animal friends. Sonic battles Eggman through many different zones. Sonic eventually pursues Eggman to Final Zone where the first in many epic battles between them begins. In the end Sonic is victorious and Eggman’s Mecha fly’s away badly damaged. Sonic returns to Green Hill Zone and re-unites with his friends.
Their reunion is short lived however, as Eggman resurfaces and begins kidnapping Sonic friends again, in an effort to create more workers to finish his ultimate Weapon – The Death Egg! Teaming up with the newly met, Miles ‘Tails’ Prower, Sonic embarks on a new mission through West Side Island in an effort to free his friends and ensure Eggman does not obtain the 7 Chaos emeralds to fuel the Death Egg.
Once the West Side Island is freed, Sonic and Tails eventually board the Tornado and assault the Death Egg itself. After destroying Mecha Sonic, Eggman flees and enters his new Eggman Robot attacking Sonic! After a heated battle Sonic destroys the Eggman Robot and the Death Egg begins to explode.
Sonic and Tails fly down and come across mysterious island called Angel Island. This island is floating by the power of the precious stone called Master Emerald, but now this mysterious island are dropping down to the ocean surface because the Death Egg had been falling on this island. Sonic and Tails are attacked by a Red Echidna named Knuckles the guardian of the island.
Knuckles steals the Chaos emeralds from Sonic, being tricked by Eggman that he is an enemy come to take the Master Emerald. While Sonic and Tails are entangled by Knuckles, Eggman repairs the Death Egg and preps it for launch.
Sonic manages to jump on Death Egg just as it’s flying off. After confronting Eggman on the Death Egg, Sonic defeats Eggman once more and the Death Egg plummets back to Angel Island.
Back on the ground Dr. Eggman begins the repairing Death Egg again. Feeling Knuckles has served his purpose, he sends EggRobo to eliminate this potential threat. EggRobo finds Knuckles relaxing in Mushroom Zone and drops a bomb on him but Knuckles manages to survive. Enraged, the Wild Echidna sets off to defeat EggRobo. Meanwhile Sonic and Tails explore the island to find traces of the Death Egg and find out Eggman’s fate. After and Epic showdown between Sonic and Knuckles, Eggman uses the opportunity to finally steal the Master Emerald and re-launches the Death Egg. With the power of the emeralds, Sonic goes after Eggman, who has taken the Master Emerald into space.
Sonic and Tails secure the Master Emerald and return it to Knuckles on Angel Island. With it’s power restored, the Angel Island lifts off into the sky as Sonic and Tails fly off into the sunset.
But this humiliating defeat only serves to further Eggman’s rage, and he has determined once and for all to rid himself of Sonic. Eggman revisits – and improves – the very best of his creations to defeat our spiked hero.
And so a new Adventure begins…
Enjoy the new trailer below:
There seems to be something mysterious about the trailer, this post makes mention of it, and many are speculating which console or platform it is: ipod (& touch), DSIware, iphone, and the most recently announced ipad (video here). Some are making jokes such as “I bet ya its Dreamcast 2. Duh!” But, um…how about a more capable service? OnLive, Anyone?
Its landing on XBLA, PSN, WiiWare, and another mysterious platform this summer (some are saying “july”), for an undisclosed price tag. Well, at this point. If you would like to know more about the announcement and the game – it is on Sega’s official Sonic 4 website.
I was just browsing around treyarch.com when i noticed their jobs section, one post in the section – Treyarch > Jobs – is for a Level Builder for Call of Duty.
Out of 5 key responsibilities, the one that stuck out to me is ‘Research subject matter for history and look of the level‘ which i guess definitely sets the next Call of Duty title somewhere in the past, as was expected.
I’ll be keeping my eyes on the job board, to see if there are any more clues.
After Burner has seen a few games in its lifetime, starting from arcades to Sega Genesis. There were only three games for the series. Until 2006, when Sega-AM2 developed After Burner Climax for Sega’s Lindbergh arcade hardware. Yes, same name, same game. Climax for PSN and XBLA is a straight port of the same name, only adding a few more features, and upgrades in some areas of the game.
I enjoyed After Burner’s fast, furious, action-packed – hell I even enjoyed sitting in its innovative cockpit arcade cabinet. Too bad I couldn’t play it all the time because the game sucked up 4 freakin’ quarters EACH time! Well, except for when that “Game Over” screen comes up, which cost 1 quarter a screen. I still enjoyed it.
Here’s the information we have so far about After Burner Climax, which is scheduled to be released in the spring:

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that the Mega Man ZERO Collection is coming to Nintendo DS. The Mega Man ZERO Collection is comprised of all four Mega Man ZERO titles bundled together. Having sold over 500 thousand units in North America, all four titles will be available on one DS cartridge for the first time at a great price. The portable Mega Man® fun will begin when the title arrives in early Summer 2010.
The first Mega Man ZERO game was released in 2002 on the GameBoy Advance. It featured Zero, a popular Capcom character that was introduced in the Mega Man X series. The Mega Man ZERO series follows Zero through a dark and thrilling 2D action-adventure with high-quality visuals and action. There will also be interesting devices like the Chain Rod and Zero Knuckle. For the first time, the Mega Man ZERO series will be available for Nintendo DS, complete with all-new modes.
In Mega Man Zero our hero awakens after 100 years of sleep to a world where innocent reploids (robots) are unjustly attacked by an organization called “Neo Arcadia”. This new government has turned the world into a place where it is extremely hard for reploids to live and where they are under constant persecution. Reploids who have managed to escape from the punishment flee to an old city which now lies in ruin, but the evil Neo Arcadia is closing-in on their location. A genius scientist named Ciel, who lives with the innocent reploids in hopes of saving them, tries to revive the legendary reploid Mega Man Zero in order to save the cornered reploids. As Mega Man Zero, it is up to you to save the world.
In Mega Man Zero 2, it has been one year since Zero saved the reploids and defeated the evil advance of Copy X and Neo Arcadia. Nevertheless, Neo Arcadia still hunts him and sets a trap for our hero. His plan is to trick Zero and use him to wreak chaos between reploids and humans once again. But, can he succeed? Mega Man Zero 3 is set in a world called “Neo Arcadia” that has been created as a utopia for humans and reploids. This new chapter continues the adventure of the series’ title hero, Zero, and his reploid allies in the Resistance group who are fighting for peace.
In Mega Man Zero 3, Zero encounters a malevolent new reploid called Omega who has unleashed the evil power of the Dark Elf to brainwash the Resistance in order to take over Neo Arcadia. As the only one who has escaped the brainwashing attack, Zero must fight to save his allies and Neo Arcadia.
Mega Man Zero 4 picks up right after the events of Mega Man Zero 3. After falling under the evil rule of Dr. Weil, Neo Arcadia has collapsed into a state of chaos and confusion. Zero discovers this disastrous turn of events when he and his friends come to the rescue of a band of humans fleeing Neo Arcadia. Now it’s up to our hero Zero to resolve this terrible conflict between humans and reploids to restore peace and security to the land. With new systems to seize enemy weapons and create strengthening chips, plus new Cyber elf programs to introduce new abilities, this is some of the most exhilarating Mega Man action you can get in a handheld experience.
Capcom is known to have developed some great games, but like some companies – Capcom’s games can be a hit or miss affair. The original Lost Planet and Dark Void were misses.
Capcom has been putting out some episodic trailers to tide us over with regards to Lost Planet as it will be released in May. Quite the long wait for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC owners. One of the best trailers to come out of Capcom’s HQ is below:
My time with Lost Planet 2 at E32009 had me impressed. The recent release of LP2 Co-Op demo reinforced my first impressions – its awesome. Capcom isn’t known to have some of the most epic games made. Looks like Lost Planet 2 is set to break that mold. One of the complaints that the original Lost Planet had was the fact that it was always in snow, this has been fixed. There is a lot of variety in locations.
