  • New Lost Planet 2 Trailer!

    New Lost Planet 2 Trailer!

Capcom has been on a roll lately, they just released Dark Void a few days ago, and they’re about to release Lost Planet 2 across mutiple platforms. The game was supposed to be released early 2010 – February to be precise, it is now scheduled to release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this april, with no definite date penned.

Regardless, Capcom has released a trailer to tide us over:

The game has been broken into episodes, so you’ll see different locals that are different – one episode is a stage that I have already played before at E32009 – this is a monster that seems like a giant salamander. If you get eaten by this salamander – its a whole new level. I can’t wait to get Lost Planet 2 because it is that damn good. Hell, playing the demo on PS3 recently solidifies my first impressions of LP2.

  • New Aliens Vs Predator Trailer!

    New Aliens Vs Predator Trailer!

Based on the 1999 classic first person shooter comes a brand-new Aliens Vs Predator game arriving for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. 10 years ago we saw the release of AvP for PC which was developed by Rebellion, and now they’ve come back to for more carnage, for more creativity, and more detail. Here is the reveal trailer for the game:

That’s just the taste of things to come! Well, not compared to the Kill Moves trailer SEGA posted on their youtube:

    Can you say “Fatality?”

  • First Quantum Theory Trailer!

I have a theory that this game is going to kick some major ass! It is a game developed and published by Tecmo, creators of Ninja Gaiden. The game is being touted as an innovative crossover between action slasher, and shooters – the game also boasts the Unreal 3 engine. Decide for yourself if Tecmo has won your thirst for action:

It certainly has earned my attention to this game because it basically is a game similar to Gears of War, which is good news because this basically gives PS3 players a chance to play Gears of War on their console. I’d love to get my hands on Quantum Theory for that exact reason. The game arrives this spring for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom Ad Spot Revealed!

As we get closer, and closer to the release of the once japan-exclusive game – Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars for the wii, we get everything that Capcom is going to throw at us. So, today, Capcom wanted to share with the community of Capcom fans a first peek at the Ad Spot for the game. Enjoy!

One thing that stood out from the trailer, is that the advertising agency that Capcom hired to do the spot did something no other video game company has done to date – well, with one exception; Microsoft and their “believe” trailer for Halo 3 as evidenced below:

Amazing? Check the behind the scenes video below!

I was at E32009 last year to preview Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars for the Wii. I also previewed Dark Void, as well. Enjoy!

  • Call Of Duty: Vietnam coming this November?

Generally pretty reliable news source CVG are today reporting that Call of Duty 7: Vietnam (Although probably with a far nicer name) is set to hit stores this November.

I’m not convinced how reliable their source is, there have been plenty of rumours floating around this week mentioning Vietnam, and ties to films like Platoon and Apocalypse Now and at first glance this appears to simply be another one of those. Like i said though, CVG do tend to be pretty reliable in my experience… and they’re certainly well established.

  • New Rocket Knight Gameplay Trailers

    New Rocket Knight Gameplay Trailers

3 months ago, Konami announced there would be a complete reboot of a classic Genesis title called Rocket Knight Adventures, which only had a sequel called Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2 which both were released two years in a row. There was a Super Nintendo version that was released as “Sparkster” the same year as Rocket Knight Adventures 2. Sparkster served as a spin-off and was set in an alternate universe.

Both games sold well enough to make Konami a profit. Mostly because platformers were still popular. What stood Sparkster out from the crowd was that the series had a beautiful scenery – making for vibrant colors. I remember that I wanted to buy Rocket Knight Adventures the first day I laid my eyes on it. We eventually rented it, and I still wanted it. My parents went out and bought it that same week. Although it was a tough choice between it and Blaster Master 2 – another classic I’ve always wanted to buy.

To me, Rocket Knight Adventures was another Mega Man-like game. Where you jump, dash, and shoot. I knew I instantly liked it. Sparkster didn’t have a buster, but he emoted a projectile sword swipe.

So, ten years later, we’re seeing a re-boot, a completely brand new Sparkster game. There have been some trailers posted on GameVideos. The game is making its debut across three platforms. They are PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam.

So far, you’ve been seeing brand new trailers, however, I have embedded an old trailer of the game that was posted back in October, so go ahead and compare if you’d like!

I think the new trailers are better because there is more detail, more refined gameplay, and it looks a little bit responsive. I can’t wait to get my hands on this!

  • Dark Void ….Zero?

Capcom has been in the game industry for nearly two decades – somewhere in the late 80’s when NES was still dominating the game industry. Capcom was at work on a top-secret, never-seen-before title that was set to become a revolutionary standard in the shooter genre. The game’s ideas were moved into other games such as Section Z and other flying games. It caught on during the Arcade bubble of the 90’s – where some companies wanted to develop their own space shooter, or platformer/shooter-like game. I myself have played these space shooters in the arcades, and on my NES.

So, one day, Capcom was moving their headquarters from Sunnyvale, California to their current headquarters in San Mateo, California – they found their backcatalogue of games. Dark Void was one of them:

As the ’80s were drawing to a close, the developers at Capcom began work on a top secret project that aimed to set new standards for the platformer genre. That game was called “Dark Rift”, and it blended the intense shooting action of Section Z™ with the latest innovations in platform jumping from Mega Man. In order to properly fulfill the producer’s vision for Dark Rift (later renamed Dark Void), the hardware engineering team at Capcom was enlisted to design and produce an all-new chipset that would be included in every cartridge, enabling huge numbers of sprites and never-before-seen special effects to be displayed on the aging NES® platform and the PlayChoice-10 NES arcade cabinet.

Alas, time waits for no man and game developers are no exception. The dawn of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System® made the additional hardware requirements for Dark Void redundant. Capcom suspended development on Dark Void as it began to evaluate the SNES. Before long, the game was shelved and drifted into the annals of gaming history. Even the internal tape-based archives were lost due to an unfortunate magnet incident which even today is best left un-discussed. Dark Void became a legendary “lost project” at Capcom…until now.

Nearly twenty years later the next gen version of the game, Dark Void, is back on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC! But to commemorate the game’s humble origins, Capcom has commissioned this recreation of the original 8-bit classic, now re-titled “Dark Void Zero,” on the DSi platform. You play Rusty, the first human born in the Void, who must take on the Watchers in a quest to stop their domination of Earth. With the aid of Nikola Tesla, and his state-of-the-art rocket pack, Rusty must take down the Watchers and their minions across three intense levels of action and intrigue.

Here’s the video of Dark Void Zero, slated to release on DSi in January for 500 DSi Points. It will also be released for mobile phones and PC in February. Enjoy:

I think I might just download it through PC. Looks pretty cool, and I’m a sucker for new, never-before-seen games.

  • New Castlevania: ReBirth Video!

    New Castlevania: ReBirth Video!

I’ve been a fan of Castlevania since the debut on NES. And most recently, I’ve replayed two different castlevania games on GBA: Circle of the Moon, and Harmony of Dissonance. I already beat Aria of Sorrow. The thing is, I’m going to have to miss ReBirth because I don’t own a Wii. Which I don’t plan to be doing until I see something I like or even love.

Anyhow, here’s the trailer for the new Castlevania. It is a total re-make of a GameBoy game called Castlevania Adventure, enjoy:

For more information about Castlevania and other Konami games, check konami.com The game is scheduled to release by the end of the 4th quarter of 2009. Should be between now and January.
