Medal of Honor Beta drops June 21st

Electronic Art’s Medal of Honor series has been selling millions of units, but in recent times, the series has seen a stagnant standstill. EA has decided to bring back the franchise to compete directly against Modern Warfare 2. EA has chosen Activision to be their rival in the game industry. The new game in the series, is going to simply be called “Medal of Honor.” A complete reboot of the series, taking place in modern times. The game is set to be released during the holiday rush of this year, EA has revealed the multiplayer beta for the game:

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced that Medal of Honor is now recruiting players for a massive global multiplayer beta test that starts on June 21. Players will be granted early access to two action-packed maps on the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and PC. EA also announced today that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIPs who have pre-ordered Medal of Honor, will be able to enter the multiplayer beta even earlier; starting June 17. Developed by DICE, Medal of Honor multiplayer delivers world-class action and dedicated server support. Beta key distribution details are available at www.medalofhonor.com. The beta maps will be playable this week at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in EA’s booth located in the South Hall, booth #1601.

“We’re excited to be partnering with DICE to deliver a single-player/multiplayer experience that perfectly complement one another. Though the modes and maps are different, both sides of the game carry through the same authentic sentiment of today’s soldiers who are fighting today’s war.”

“In selecting a studio to create our multiplayer, there was no clearer choice than DICE. When it comes to online gameplay, they are world class,” said Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer on Medal of Honor. “We’re excited to be partnering with DICE to deliver a single-player/multiplayer experience that perfectly complement one another. Though the modes and maps are different, both sides of the game carry through the same authentic sentiment of today’s soldiers who are fighting today’s war.”

The Medal of Honor multiplayer beta features two heart-pounding modes set across two maps inspired by real world locations: Helmand Valley and Kabul City Ruins. In Team Assault mode, players must rely on their raw skill and map knowledge to stay alive in intense and close quarter combat. In Combat Mission, a tactical and team-based mode, gamers fight through a series of objectives revealed through an engaging narrative. Both modes pit two teams of 12 players (total 24 players) against one another with realistic destruction, tactical support actions, and a weapon customization system with modifications that generate hundreds of combinations.

Separately, the Medal of Honor single-player campaign is being developed by EALA who has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the U.S. Special Operations Community to create the most authentic modern war experience possible.

Medal of Honor launches on October 12, 2010 in North America (Oct. 15 in EU). Follow the game on twitter at: www.twitter.com/medalofhonor or become a fan on Facebook at www.facebook.com/medalofhonor.

  • New Dead Space 2 trailer shows off new stuff!

New Dead Space 2 trailer shows off new stuff!

Dead Space was a survival horror game that sold so well, that Electronic Arts gave a green light to a sequel for the game. Isaac Clarke returns with an attitude. He brings with him a new weapon, and new moves. He can now float in the airspace. A race full of species known as Necromorph is hell bent on invading a space station – we do not know much at this time, but rest assured, they’re in masses, and they come in groups. Trailer’s below:

  • New KillZone 3 trailer!

    New KillZone 3 trailer!

Guerillla Games’ KillZone 3 is becoming one of the most anticipated games at E32010 because of the massive scale of what the game is trying to achieve. The sequel is not only going to be taking place in new locals, and new weather. It is also going to introduce 3D stuff, and then some more, like new moves. Your melee will become more varied this time around. Variety is the spice of life, ya know. Anyhow, the trailer’s below:

  • New Gran Turismo 5 trailer!

    New Gran Turismo 5 trailer!

Sony has been quite quiet about Gran Turismo on PS3 for quite a long time. Gran Turismo has been in development at Polyphony Digital for 7 years. Gran Turismo 4 was released for PS2 in 2004. Set to release in November of this year, Sony has acquired the NASCAR, World Rally Championship, Super GT, and Daytona International licenses to have their ‘likeness’ used in the game. It is unclear how many cars will be in the final game, but it is said to be in the 950 to 1,000 range. That’s a lot of cars. It has, however been confirmed that there are 20 tracks in 70 variations – anywhere from sunny weather, rainy weather, day/night conditions, and more. I hope to see a stormy, rainy weather in GT5, because what I saw in a F1 racing game for PS3 was awesome.

We’ll have more about the game at E32010, but for now, we have a trailer to show ya:

  • New Marvel Vs Capcom 3 trailer!

New Marvel Vs Capcom 3 trailer!

I’ve recently posted that Capcom unveiled MvC3 to the masses. And everyone’s been excited about the game, they’ve also been making rounds in discussing whom the characters will be on both sides of the equation. There’s been a lot of buzz since the announcement. With two days away from E32010, Capcom released a trailer teasing a few things.

Recently, Gametrailers released an exclusive character reveal trailer below:

  • MK9 is a reboot; the title is Mortal Kombat.

MK9 is a reboot; the title is Mortal Kombat.

Warner Brothers has been on fire lately, I’ve reported recently, that there was a video that leaked onto the internet, there was speculation whether if it is a trailer for a game or film. Turns out, the trailer was meant as a short to show Warner Bros. what Kevin Tancharoen is capable of producing. Several of the trailer’s actors have spoken out about what the intention behind the short was about.

They said that the short was targeted at a movie reboot. As they’ve understood that Warner Bros. has purchased Midway, and the Mortal Kombat IP.

In a press release sent out by Warner Bros. Interactive, Inc. they announced that a new Mortal Kombat video game is coming. And it isn’t bearing the number 9 anywhere in the title. In fact, the game is looking to re-imagine the story of the original Mortal Kombat, and the characters, the stages, the environments of Mortal Kombat 2, while bringing new moves, new gameplay mechanics, and new features.

Mortal Kombat is slated for a 2011 release for Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Ed Boon is once again the leader of the original Mortal Kombat team. And this time, the game is being published by Warner Bros. Games, and developed by the newly-formed NetherRealm Studios. Ed Boon has listened to many gamers’ cry for a more mature mortal kombat, more brutal, and gruesome fatatalites. As Mortal Kombat vs DC universe toned down violence level in exchange for a Teen ratings label by stupid ESRB.

The press release said that the game will re-invent 2D gameplay mechanic, new tag-team modes (one of them is a 4 player Co-Op mode where you can tag your partner to battle it out with two others in the lobby), and Warner Bros. is putting more focus and emphasis on story by delivering a deeper story this time around.

A new trailer was released for the “reboot” of Mortal Kombat:
