Welcome to the world’s first Street Fighter X Tekken blog dedicated soley to delivering content about the ultimate battle of the titans. Street Fighter Cross Tekken in an unlikely crossover battle of the titans. Two fighting game icons clash over who’s supreme and who’s vicious!
The reason why I, Carlos Morales, the entrepreneur extraordinaire has chosen the name SF vs Tekken over any other like-minded Street Fighter X Tekken domain is that it is the early working title for SF x Tekken. On top of that, SF vs Tekken makes more sense since I have another Vs website called Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Forum.
I’m a writer, so quality will be a prominent feature to this website. So you won’t have to worry about quality around here, at all. I will be bringing you all the latest announcements, the latest SF X Tekken news as it comes.
Thank you all for reading! I hope you’ll stick around!
As reported before, what started as a rumor, is now official: Map Pack 4 is coming. It will be called Rezurrection. It seems like a play on the word Resurrection.
Not only has it been made official, Treyarch released a Behind the Scenes video of the new Map Pack. As it has been with past Map Packs, Rezurrection is timed exclusive to Xbox 360, so PS3 and PC players will be able to buy and play it within the next month.
Just want to note that this map pack is actually the same maps that are found in the Black Ops Hardened or Prestige Editions, making the “extras” part of the package “free.” The Map Pack releases August 23rd. Are you ready to resurrect the zombies from the ashes?
It’s been over a month since Robert Bowling teased about a Spec Ops trailer they were working on. A lot of people, including members of the games media has been asking, and asking Robert Bowling when the trailer would be released, after many tries – There was no trailer in sight. Players from all around the world has been awaiting the trailer after much hype by Mr. Bowling. Until today.
Without warning, without an ETA to work with, Robert Bowling surprised the world with a new trailer of Modern Warfare 3. But it’s not about the multiplayer portion of MW3, instead, it’s the world premiere of the Survival Mode! Spec Ops has been tweaked, flipped upside down, built from the ground up to bring an exciting twist to Survival Modes.
I’ll start with the first thing you see, this is what you read when the trailer boots up:
Survival
In Survival, you will fight off waves of increasingly difficult enemies as you earn XP and unlock several types of armories to expand your arsenal and load-out customization along the way.
Unlock new upgrades and missions as you gain XP and increase in level throughout the Survival Experience. Survival challenges along with leaderboards allow you to compete against your friends and prove once and for all, who is the best soldier.
The introduction fades away and goes into the trailer.
Call of Duty: MW3 features an expanded and an evolved survival mode within Spec Ops. What started out as a lime version of survival mode evolved into it’s own ‘life’ as Robert calls it.
The first thing you’ll notice is that the HUD seems different in the Spec Ops Survival Mode. One of the most notable is that your Spec Ops cash has a meter of its own. There seems to be two and I’m not sure what they are. I see different types of cash indicators throughout the entire trailer: KillStreak, Rampage, Flash Kill, and HeadShots just to name a few. I can only assume that if you rack up enough action, you get more cash. More money. The number below the indicators is obviously the total cash you’ve gathered from your actions.
The other thing you’ll notice is that there are new indicators – they tell you where the nearest weapon or item which includes grenades. These are usually inside armories, these indicators tell you which type of armory is close by. Now, don’t get confused because when a grenade drops, or someone throws a grenade at you, you’re probably still going to find that white grenade indicator that has been there since COD4. These indicators are not limited to just weapons, or items – it will tell you where your killstreak reward is.
The HUD has been seeing some changes in the way you know what you got, and how you got it. For example, every kill will show XP as always, but it’s green now. Not the typical yellow. You’ll also notice a armor indicator, too. Every time you get a KillStreak, you will know how much cash you got. I’m guessing the higher the KillStreak, the more cash you earn, just like you do with KillStreak rewards. Speaking of KillStreaks, is it just me, or are KillStreaks in Spec Ops Survival are more dangerous, more explosive, and crazier than any killstreak we’ve seen so far? At one point of the trailer, the gunship throws like a hundred bombs into the ground with all this craziness in the area. Such intensity!
When you get to an armory, you’ll have a bunch of choices for which weapon or item you’d like to buy. It shows how much you have, and how much you can afford once you buy an item. By now, you’ll notice a Purple Smoke, this is the Air Support Marker. It is much like MW2’s Red Smoke which is a marker that drops a care package at the location of your choice.
You’ll come to a bunch of gameplay footage from Spec Ops then you’ll see a camera angle that is actually a Missile Drone. Predator Missile exists in MW3, but the camera that was used looks entirely different from the camera that was used for MW2’s Predator Missile. Oh, and Riot Shield returns! Whee!
By the end of the trailer, we’re treated to the world’s first look at MW3 Multiplayer! As you can see, the HUD looks changed, so this is actually a teaser for MW3’s multiplayer. The map UAV looks more detailed this time around. Three things revealed so far: The weapon that’s being held is an FNG9. Secondly, KillStreaks looks like they’re being overhauled. Instead of gunning for kills to earn this killstreak, you’re earning it via XP. Finally, Juggernaut has been confirmed as a KillStreak. It’s no longer a perk, it’s now a KillStreak.
Are you ready for Call of Duty XP, when they finally show off MW3’s multiplayer!? I bet you are!
Square-Enix has been falling into obscurity for quite some time. Back in the 1990’s, Square has been making some of the best Role Playing Games in the industry. From Final Fantasy, to Xenogears, to Super Mario RPG, they have been billed as the “king” of RPG’s. As soon as the next generation of consoles rolled around, Square has been slowly turning into a shadow of it’s former self. This was evident towards the end of the PSX lifecycle, when they moved into PS2 game development. They spent millions, if not billions of dollars into making their vision come true with the PS2 technology. By the time it was too late, they scaled back and ended up not releasing enough games. The only games that even remotely caught the eyes of gamers are Kingdom Hearts, Xenosaga, and Final Fantasy X. Even though these games have sold a considerate amount of units. Square has been in the black. Square then had been in the purchasing hunt, until they met the Enix executives. Enix is also revered for their RPG offerings.
During the PS3 vs Xbox 360 era, Square hasn’t released enough to satisfy investors, and shareholders. Square-Enix once again had been on the hunt for acquisitions, they acquired Edios, notoriously known for games like Tomb Raider, and TimeSplitters. Tomb Raider’s re-debut is slated for 2012. TimeSplitters is pending an announcement soon.
Recently Square-Enix nabbed the rights to True Crime: Hong Kong. At this point I’m wondering to myself: “Why didn’t they think of buying Take Two?” Take-Two has been open to acquisitions recently, calling themselves a “great investment.”
My question to you Square Enix: If you’re going to go into sandbox gaming, why aren’t you taking up Take Two’s opportunity? It makes no sense whatsoever to me. While UFG seems to have a big hit in their hands. Building a totally new brand is going to be a very hard thing to do. Especially with competition from GTA, and as ironic as it sounds: True Crime. Even though that Activision has not built a strong fanbase with True Crime, that Rockstar has built with Grand Theft Auto; Activision has billions of dollars in investment capital available at their disposal. So, at this point I’m calling this a risky move unless Square Enix invests more into the product.
What do you say, Square? You ready to take a big investment? If I were you Square Enix, I would take that double risk.
If you want to be back on the map, and be relevant again, I recommend it.
Call of Duty Black Ops was released in November of 2010, and has gone to have become the best selling game of all time. [source] Some say Black Ops sold over 25 million units thus far. Treyarch released 3 map packs thus far, and nothing seems to be stopping them.
According to Loudmouthed Gamers, OXM let it slip that Treyarch is currently working on their next Call of Duty title. They quoted OXM saying “What will Treyarch’s 2012 Call of Duty game be? Bet on Black Ops 2 says The Ball…”
While it’s quite too early, OXM is a very credible source, so I would have to believe the next game is Black Ops 2.
We’re still awaiting the Spec Ops Survival Mode trailer. This article is a continuation of this article. But this time, Robert Bowling takes questions from the Call of Duty Twitterverse. Some of them are about Spec Ops, and some of them are about MW3 multiplayer balancing.
CommandaSmith asked if we can use custom classes that we’ve already created, and if we’re able to unlock awesome weapons such as the Desert Eagle. Mr. Bowling answered…
No. Spec Ops has a separate ranking system than Multiplayer and a unique way of unlocking weapons in waves.
Alkhars asked if MW3 will feature new attachments in multiplayer, and whether we can use weapons from multiplayer, in Spec Ops…
Lots of new stuff. Single Player and Multiplayer weapon lists share some, but vary too. Especially in how they’re balanced.
HYVOLTAG3 asked if there’s any new multiplayer gametypes, Mr. Bowling made a short answer to it…
Yes sir, but multiplayer details can’t be shared yet.
jamessmith233 asked when the Spec Ops video would be released, Robert answered…
Its taken on a life of its own, and were capturing even more footage. As soon as I have an ETA, I’ll let you know!
..Whoa, whoa. That’s a ‘lil too much information, Mr. Bowling!
Hopefully it’s worth the wait, because it’s been a month that we’ve been waiting for this Spec Ops trailer. BENGALGHOST asked what Rob meant by different melee system…
Its been balanced, plus Commando is no longer in the game. Beyond that, you’ll have to wait and see.
And actually, this is a much expanded version of a question that Rob answered earlier.
There is no commando in #MW3
It was posted on July 8th by a user named PSN_SMOGGIE; he asked if Commando has been taken out. Similarly EdHugz asks if Riot Shields will be making a return, Rob didn’t confirm or deny it…
I agree, it is awesome and can lead to awesome moments, but I can’t confirm specific MP weapons just yet.
…So, if you can read between the lines – it is confirmed. I’ve had a lot of fun with Riot Shields, as do EdHugz and dozens others. Msikkema66 asked Robert if he thinks that the MW3 Survival Mode is on par with the Zombie Survival Mode. For better or worse, Rob made this statement…
They’re very different experiences. Spec Ops Survival is one of my favorite parts of MW3, so much variety in one mode.
Stay tuned for the new Spec Ops Survival Mode trailer.
Ahead of the July 28th release of Annihilation for PS3, and PC, Treyarch released a patch update. It’s quite a small one.
7/26/11 (Patch 1.11)
• Security updates.
• Support for Annihilation Map Pack (releasing July 28)
• Search and Destroy audio tweaks for planting and defusing.
Annihilation is activated in this update – the update actually implements the map pack well ahead of Annihilation’s release. [source] Rumors are floating around that the un-announced fourth Map Pack is also implemented in this update, possibly in conjunction with the release of Call of Duty Elite on July 15th.
Not only that, the release of Annihilation also activates Double XP weekend starting tomorrow. To see one of Annihilation’s maps, enjoy Hangar 18!
Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 was announced at Comic Con and it was met with a mixed bag of reactions. It has been a really crazy week for Capcom. No matter what they do, they keep getting controversial, both at the event, and on gaming websites such as N4G. But one thing that stood out, that makes you wonder, what the #@^& is wrong with Capcom fans and casual gamers alike? Allow me to explain…
I was creating a thread at MVC3Forum. [this one] And I’m sitting there with different feelings. The annoucement of new characters evoked a lot of cheering joys. Ghost Rider got this crazy pop, Strider got this crazy excited cheer, Hawkeye got this excitement, but Firebrand… everyone went SILENT! #@^&ing silent! With a few laughs…
See for yourself:
…Um. Okay, so let me ask you a question, what the #@^& is so funny about Firebrand’s inclusion? And likewise, what’s so surprising about his inclusion? I’m going to take you back to Feburary, when MVC3 was released. This guy predicted few months before UMVC3 was even teased.
Here’s why I asked: Red Arremer is the name for Firebrand in Japan. He has been a part of the Ghosts ‘n Goblins series as an enemy until Capcom decided to make him a hero. He starred in his own game 3 times already: Two Gargoyle’s Quest games for GameBoy, and one game for Super NES, called Demon’s Crest.
So, with this in mind, by now, Firebrand should have been a Capcom “legend.” When I was watching this video:
I was like “Firebrand?” It was an odd addition, but at the same time, it makes a lot of sense. Ghost ‘n Goblins series has been a very iconic name in the platforming genre back in the 1980’s. Notoriously known for the incredible difficulty.
It started as an arcade title, in which it moved into computer and console gaming, it even was released for apple’s iOS platform in 2010, so anyone could have known Firebrand by now. iphone users, ipod users can download the game on Apple’s App store.
I don’t know what’s funny about his inclusion. So I did some digging. I remember Demon’s Crest vividly when I started another thread at MVC3Forum. You wanna see what is all the fuss about? See for yourself:
Capcom went all out with Demon’s Crest which made full use of Super NES’s color palette, Mode 7, and other effects that made Super NES the system to showcase their games. The designers used every arsenal in their programming power to bring about this classic. The game borrows a lot of the stuff from Capcom’s Mega Man X, which was released a year earlier than Demon’s Crest.
What can Capcom do to bring excitement to Firebrand’s inclusion? Well, I have never played Demon’s Crest, but I know about it’s features. Demon’s Crest allows you to collect powers, just like you do in the Mega Man games. My suggestion is to use these transformations, and “powers” as super moves. Show off what Firebrand’s made of.
The second suggestion is to put Demon’s Crest on all downloadable services such as XBLA, and PSN. [Suggested here by me] Do it, Capcom! DO IT!
Robert Bowling teased about Spec Ops a few weeks ago. Robert reassured his followers on Twitter that the trailer is coming soon, and according to GamerZines, Mr. Bowling has assured them that the trailer’s release is very soon. [source] How soon is very up in the air.
Nobody knows what’s keeping Activision from releasing the Spec Ops trailer. Rob is currently in Germany taking interviews. However, on July 19th, Robert Bowling made this tweet:
If you’re anticipating the #MW3 Spec Ops Survival Mode trailer we’ve been working on, I just reviewed and sent final edits back to the team!
The Twitterverse has been asking GamerZines to ask when MW3 Spec Ops trailer would be revealed. In an interview with GamerZines, Robert had this to say:
“I was just upstairs reviewing the last cut of it.”
He continued:
“It’s very soon and we’re putting the final touches on it.”
He then explained why they’re holding off showing off the trailer:
“There’s still stuff that you guys are seeing here that we’re not ready to show publicly, so we’re classifying some of that information, but as soon as it’s polished up and ready to go then it’ll be out.”
Stay tuned for more about Spec Ops! It’s very close, people!
Well, it was expected. It was a question whether Activision was going to release a tiered level version of MW3 like MW2 did – Prestige Edition and Hardened Edition. Robert Bowling the creative strategist at Infinity Ward a few moments ago revealed MW3’s Hardened Edition straight from the factory.
Robert Bowling said in a tweet that the full reveal of Harden Edition is going to take place at the Call of Duty XP event that takes place in Los Angeles. Mr. Bowling usually reserves the reveal of collectors editions in his own video. One you can see below for Modern Warfare 2:
With this in mind, I would like to take this moment to reveal CODForums’s second contest. You have a chance to win Modern Warfare 3 Harden Edition courtesy of CarlosX360 Co. Ltd. To learn what the contest is about, and how to win your very own copy of Modern Warfare 3, read this for details. See you in Social Media, folks!
