Second Look at Call of Duty XP

Yesterday, we brought you the first look at CODXP. Today, we’re bringing you the second look at how CODXP is being created. It shows how big the event is. How much work is going into the event itself.

Microsoft posted a behind-the-scenes video of crafting, and getting CODXP ready. If you ever wanted to know what it would take to create a massive event such as Call of Duty Experience, Microsoft has you covered. CODXP is being sponsored by Xbox 360, so naturally, Microsoft is doing all this marketing for Activision.

  • Multiplayer Modes for MW3 leaked ahead of CODXP

Multiplayer Modes for MW3 leaked ahead of CODXP

Normally I don’t post “leaked” news, but I’m going to make this the exception. A lot of leaks are usually wrong. In the next few days, and over the next week, we’re going to see a lot of leaks, and information related to Modern Warfare 3.

The current story circulating the internet is that someone allegedly broke into the Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles that will take place on September 2nd and 3rd. This youtuber access the Xbox 360 consoles that will be used at the CODXP event. To see the video, check this video:

If you couldn’t see most of it, it’s because the trailer moved a lil’ to fast, so you can’t really digest information. So, I happened to come across images, and I have snapped it to bring you the low-down of what has been revealed:

    MW3 Multiplayer Leak

The first thing that you’ll notice from the get-go is the maximum size of the mutiplayer map called “Paris” – I’m not sure if this is limited to just the maps themselves, or the modes themselves. Either way, the maximum Team Deathmatch can hold 32 players. Just so that we’re clear, you can’t really make out the whole image but you can see “Team Deathmatch AND bomb…” that last part is up for speculation.

However, the next image confirms that it is, indeed Team Deathmatch:

Looks like the multiplayer map takes place in Paris, we’ve seen Paris before in the previous Spec Ops Trailer. Finally, the last image shows all maps are swapped into verticle view. This is the list that’s been leaked so far:

    Carbon
    Coast
    Dome
    Exchange
    Hardhat
    Interchange
    Lambeth
    Meteora
    Mogadishu
    Paris
    Plaza
    Radar
    Seatown

I said “so far..” because Black Ops had 14 maps, and MW2 had 16. It’s possible that more maps may appear at the CODXP event. And because developers at Infinity Ward, and Raven Software are constantly changing the multiplayer aspects of MW3, who knows? Maybe these maps aren’t even final, and maybe they’ll be cut before release or add more maps to the foray?

Stay tuned for more information as we lead into Call of Duty XP, and find more information at CODXP. See you then.

  • Street Fighter x Tekken Cinematic Trailer

Kazuya tells Jin that the man he’s been looking to challenge is here. But Ryu, and Ken enters the foray and then some more. Kazuya goes crazy with his laser eye, wrecking havoc on everything that is in his way…

…The trailer gets more interesting when a robotic cyborg tries to destroy all. I’m liking it so far. It’s looking very interesting.

Capcom goes all out with their artistic talents in this stunning trailer. I loved how the effects were given off of each punches and off their faces. There seems to be a focused direction in SF x Tekken.

  • First Street Fighter x Tekken Trailer

Street Fighter and Tekken fans unite! Capcom is hard at work on a title that is about the clash of two of gaming’s biggest names. In SF x Tekken, it’s Street Fighter vs Tekken in a battle of the titans. Namco and Capcom makes a game that’s about Street Fighter cross Tekken..

SF x Tekken releases next spring in 2012. Are you ready for the ultimate battle of the titans?

  • Testing Orientation Evaluation

This mysterious trailer just popped up on the Call of Duty youtube channel… nobody really knows what it is. Maybe a new Downloadable Content incoming? They just released 4 different Map Packs!

If Activision takes that video down, use this back-up, instead:

We’ll know more about what this teaser video is about soon. At least that’s what the video says.

  • Zombie Rezurrection has been taken over by Zombie Authority

Treyarch released a trailer about the recently released downloadable content for Black Ops, called Rezurrection. This trailer is more of a teaser of what the Map Pack is about…

The 4th Map Pack dubbed Rezurrection is on Xbox Live first, I assume it will come to PS3 and PC on September 23rd.

  • An EA partner developer can’t use Porsche?

An EA partner developer can’t use Porsche?

Electronic Arts and Microsoft have been partners for years. And they don’t really need to be partners anyway. I mean, Peter Moore left Microsoft for Electronic Arts in 2007. Peter Moore heads the EA Sports division of Electronic Arts. Peter Moore previously held the president of the EA Sports brand, but recently been promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Electronic Arts. The weird thing about this story is that Turn 10, a Microsoft company that develops a racing game called Forza – was blocked from the use of Porsche model cars. Any of the Porsche cars. [source]

This doesn’t make sense to me, at all. Electronic Arts is a major supporter of Microsoft with Xbox 360. Microsoft is a major supporter of Electronic Arts through many exclusive Madden, NASCAR, and other EA Sports brands. I understand that Electronic Arts wants to place a bid for the market leader of simulation racing games on the market over the likes of Gran Turismo and [obviously] Forza. But blocking Porsche from Forza from the other developers will just hurt the racing ecosystem, just as Dan Greenawalt says:

“We’ve always found that we just weren’t willing to block other racing games from having Ferraris outright, as we believed that this would do nothing but hurt the racing ecosystem.”

Good Job, EA, for hurting another sports industry. I mean, the last time you pulled a stunt like this, it was with exclusivity over NASCAR, and to a higher extent; NFL. And NFL isn’t doing so well right now. Not only did the exclusivity to Electronic Arts hurt the football “competition,” from other game developers via complete industry monopoly, then comes a lockout of the entire NFL ecosystem, then a rivalry gone bad:

Not too long afterwards, a murder takes place.

My point here is that companies are too worried over a single car’s exclusivity, than it is to sell a high quality [racing] game. Especially between two companies that are supposedly supporting each other. Might as well withdraw the collaboration because if you’re going to pull a stunt like this, I say, forget collaboration. Forget mutual understnding. Forget it.
