    Microsoft reveals Halo: Campaign Evolved

Halo has been a long-running franchise that dates back to 2000. Bungie was founded in 1991, but in 1998, Bungie was working on a new game known – codenamed “Monkey Nuts” or later as “Blam!” In 2001, Halo was released exclusively for Xbox. In 2004, Halo 2 was released exclusively on Xbox. In 2007, Halo 3 was released exclusively for Xbox 360. Halo 3: ODST was released shortly thereafter, still exclusive to Xbox 360. Halo: Reach followed suit shortly thereafter, again. In 2012, Halo 4 was released exclusively for Xbox 360. In 2015, Halo 5: Guardians was released exclusively for Xbox One. I am merely focused on the heavy hitter Halo games, because there is a theme here. During the Halo World Championships (2025) event, Microsoft and “Halo Studios” announced Halo: Campaign Evolved.

The biggest announcement is not even the announcement of Halo: Campaign Evolved, it’s the fact that starting with Halo: Campaign Evolved, Halo will be available on PlayStation consoles going forward. That‘s not a joke. That’s one of the quotes from “Halo Studios,” which are remnants of 343 industries. No other information was revealed other than that Halo: Campaign Evolved is penciled for 2026.

To go along with the announcement, Halo Studios released a 13-minute gameplay trailer to show off the new “Halo” engine. There are remnants the “blam!” engine, but the game is basically coded with Unreal Engine 5, which has some issues running on hardware like Xbox Series S / X. No word on PlayStation 5 Pro optimization, but as with Gears of War Reloaded, PS5 Pro enhancements will inevitably happen.

There aren’t too much information revealed about Halo: Campaign Evolved, however, the biggest announcement is that there are extra missions to ship with Halo: Campaign Evolved. Here are some of the gameplay tweaks Halo Studios said would come to Halo: Campaign Evolved…

    • New missions: Fight beside Sergeant Avery Johnson, one of the Master Chief’s most beloved and stalwart allies, as you encounter new characters, enemies, environments, and dangers in three new missions set before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved.
    • Stunning cinematics: Battle through all of Halo: Combat Evolved’s iconic moments with enhanced cinematics featuring new motion-capture animations and freshly recorded dialog from returning cast members.
    • Enhanced audio: Immerse yourself in heroic exploits with a remastered soundtrack and fully rebuilt sound design that brings Halo’s unmistakable weapons and vehicles to life in stunning fidelity. Just listen to those glorious Hunters shoot!
    • Expanded arsenal: Wield nine additional weapons from the Halo universe for the first time in Halo: Combat Evolved! Battle the Covenant with the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, Needle Rifle, and more instantly recognizable Halo weapons, alongside tried-and-true standbys from the Master Chief’s first journey.
    • Vehicle upgrades: For the first time in Halo: Combat Evolved, the Master Chief can hijack nearby enemy vehicles and add range to his repertoire at the helm of a Wraith tank. Better still, the dependable Warthog now boasts an additional seat on the rear bumper—so your whole four-player Fireteam can ride out together!
    • Dozens of Skulls: Return to any mission in Halo: Campaign Evolved and remix your experience with the most gameplay-modifying Skulls of any Halo campaign. Activate Skulls for randomized weapons, altered enemy behavior, player attributes, environmental effects, and more!

Halo: Campaign Evolved is scheduled to be released for Xbox Series S / X, Xbox Cloud, Xbox PC, Xbox Game Pass, Steam, and PlayStation 5 in 2026.

  • GoldenEye 007 to be released for Nintendo Switch and Xbox Consoles

GoldenEye 007 to be released for Nintendo Switch and Xbox Consoles

James Bond films has been a long-running franchise going back to 1962. Dr. No was released in theatres worldwide, and spawned a franchise through many different names. One of them is “GoldenEye” in 1995, and went on to become a success. Goldeneye was the best selling ticket of 1995 alongside the likes of Jurassic Park, and Batman Forever in the same year. “GoldenEye 007” was released in 1997 for Nintendo 64 and became a cult icon. Many first person shooters would model their games similarly to GoldenEye 007 in the years that follow. It is one of the best selling Nintendo 64 games with 2.1 Million copies by the end of 1998. Lifetime, it reached 8 Million copies. It’s important to acknowledge that “GoldenEye 007” as a title is completely exclusive to Nintendo. Microsoft acquired Rare, Ltd. but could never get “GoldenEye 007” on Xbox consoles, until about 2 years ago.

Microsoft and/or Rare was working on an Xbox Live Arcade version of GoldenEye 007, and actually completed the project. It was leaked somehow, and there is a Xbox 360 version floating around if you can find it. The project was not getting greenlit because the point of contention was Nintendo, who owns the rights to “GoldenEye 007.” Microsoft and Nintendo had to work out a contract, in collaboration with the James Bond license holders – which is Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). MGM is currently owned by Amazon, for your information.

That brings us to September 2022 – Nintendo and Microsoft jointly announced their respective versions of “GoldenEye 007” to be released on Nintendo Switch consoles, and Xbox consoles. Nintendo announced that GoldenEye 007 would be released for Nintendo Switch consoles via Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack tier. Today, Nintendo announced the release date for GoldenEye 007 – January 27, 2023…

Microsoft in a joint announcement via Rare, Ltd. – announced that GoldenEye 007 would arrive to Xbox Game Pass on the same date – January 27, 2023. Microsoft also announced that those who purchased “Rare Replay,” would get a special patch update that would allow you to download GoldenEye 007. Free of Charge.

GoldenEye 007 will be released on January 27, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch OLED via Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack tier, and Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S/X via Xbox Game Pass. I’m not entirely sure if GoldenEye will be released to the Xbox Network (formerly Xbox Live) store after the month is gone. Xbox Game Pass games stay on the service for an indefinite time determined by Microsoft. Sometimes it’s a month, sometimes it’s longer.

Thing is, there is an entirely bigger contract with this release. Microsoft had to talk to the film license owner, and Nintendo in order to get this ball rolling. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Goldeneye on Xbox. Not with the contract they were able to ink. Way too much money, way too much on the line for Microsoft and Rare.

  • Unboxings of Xbox Series X and S has arrived

Unboxings of Xbox Series X and S has arrived

Microsoft has been hyping up the Xbox Series X for almost 6 months now. Originally revealed at The Game Awards (2019) event, Xbox Series X is being touted as the most powerful console, and they have the specs to back it up with it. Microsoft revealed more specs of Xbox Series X. There was a controller leak of the Series S, which shows the same controller, but with a white matte finish, but on the box, it shows when retailers can sell it or display it: November 3rd. This morning, there was a leak of Xbox Series S, but then, Microsoft said “Okay, the leaks are out there now. Let’s just announce it.” And so, in a tweet, Microsoft announced Xbox Series S with the image of the console. Shortly thereafter, Microsoft released the trailer for Xbox Series S. The next morning, Microsoft officially announced the price and release date for Xbox Series X: It will be released November 10, 2020 (same day as Series S), and will cost $499. For a while now, Microsoft has been sending out review units to some journalists for review. Next thing you know, more and more YouTube influencers has been sent one over the last week now. Let’s take a look at how it looks when you purchase the console, and open it up…

Tmartn, a YouTuber with several channels – two of which are dedicated to gaming, uploaded an Xbox Series X unboxing on his second channel known as “Tmartn2” to unveil how Xbox Series X would look when you open it up…

On October 28, 2020 – Easy Allies also received Xbox Series X. Easy Allies is a group of former GameTrailer guys, that continued their work on YouTube. They have connections with Microsoft’s Xbox arm, so they’re able to do an unboxing of the console…

Also on October 28, 2020 – iJustine, a YouTuber with 6.7 Million subscribers, uploaded her own unboxing, and it’s coincided with an Xbox Series S unboxing. This lady is a tech reviewer, and unboxer, so it makes sense that she’d do this.

4 days ago, she did a video where she unboxed a Xbox Series X refrigerator… (It’s a meme at this point, but Microsoft got cheeky, and played into the meme…)

Xbox Series X will cost $499, and Xbox Series S will cost $399. Both Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S will release November 10, 2020.
