I don't think it will match it, I think the game just has too much detail going on for the VITA hardware to process at the same level. I can easily see the VITA matching Unchartered 2 though, possibly pushing the hardware a bit. But lets not also forget the VITA games come on 4GB of storage space, the PS3 uses BlueRay with up to 50GB for all those textures etc..

Room has little to do with how complex graphical solutions can be pushed.

This is what the 3DS and Vita basically demonstrate already.

When the vita uncharted shots got showcased + demonstrated at the e3 ( forest part ) alot of people where stunned by how much higher visually the device actually was. People didn't aspected it because of the 4gb cartridge restrain and having about the same ram solution as the ps3/xbox360 ( about ).

People these days constantly seem to think only on factors that have nothing to do with anything.

Boy oh boy did they got a wake up call at that time. and as far as we know golden abyss is going to be pushed on a 4gb cartridges.

Extra room provides ( like harddisk space / blu-ray space or cartridges space ) more unique content. If there simple isn't space to build 20 for example swords because you only have room for 5 swords. Then you can easily just make the color of the swords different and call them different names but use the same model and texture in general. at this point you can push out even 100 swords, they are just not really unique as you simple do not have enough space for it.

Instead of a forest with 100 different tree's you got only 5 different tree's, but that doens't prevent you from making a forest. What does prevent you from projecting that forest = hardware performance ( gpu/cpu and ram to some degree ).

Cartridge space doesn't really impact it much.

Although it isnt much, i just want to add this.
The ps3 was/is difficult to develop for which is why it took so long for quality games to come to the ps3 and developers are still unlocking the ps3's potential. While the Vita is said to be much easier to develop for and such, there COULD be less room for improvement. Im not saying UC:GA is the best we will get, what im saying is that there may not be such a large jump in quality as there was on the ps3.

They will push some good visual games out of it for sure, if sony decides to sponser it. I'm already happy its capable of pushing out better then last gen efforts tho.

Still you are right on this. the games will jump lesser on visual solution upwards then the ps3 for sure. Its clear what its able to push already at this date. it will just look more polished over time.

The big issue why the ps3 didn't jumped on visual solution forwards that early was because of the design solution of the ps3. it wasn't mend to push out high polygonal solutions upfront, this makes the ps3 incredible complicated to work with. and thats why a lot of developers are not willing to do this.

Anyway i'm happy to see they learned from that mistake with the ps3 and gave the vita not only a solid cpu performance solution but also a solid ram but specially gpu solution.

I really do hope to see a red dead redemption on it :p

Exactly! Also i could be wrong, but even with the lower resolution, the PSV can't do UC2 levels, But it probably could do rage at 30 fps right ? Its 60 fps on consoles so i figure that the PSV could do it at 30. It should be able to play games like MW3 at 40-50 fps too right ? The problem is that the resistance game they showed at gamescom didn't look as good as MW3, and definitely not RAGE, so is the resistance burning skies dev not a very good one, or is the vita not capable of a game like MW3 ?

with no doubt the developers are not that great ecause nihilistic are known for not making good games.....so we could surely expect great fps games in the future.........thats why i really wanna see how COD shows up on the vita!!

Room has everything to do with texture file sizes. The more advance they are the bigger they are, that's why PS3 exclusives will use several gigabytes of disk space. More detailed textures better looking graphics. Like BF3, on the 360 you can install a texture pack to give the advanced graphics, the PS3 has them on the disk. Now I know that these are in 720P and up resolutions but it was my argument as to why the VITA will not do UC3 graphics due to lack of storage. I doubt it will do RAGE graphics either as that game came on 3 disks on the 360 and you could do a 25GB install to the hard drive too. The PS3 had a 8GB install to allow the textures to reach the highest level of the machine.
Unchartered Golden Abyss looks fantastic, it's a first gen game, but I cannot see the VITA ever getting to UC3 levels of detail.

My mum got an sony ereader with a 6 inch screen and that one had a resolution of 800 by 600 or something. And man... on a 6 inch (no backlight because its Eink) this resolution allready looks razorsharp and letters and even black and white pictures are looking really nice. Imagine how a 5 inch screen with a 960 by 544 resolution will look like with OLED backlight. That would be amazing + no ghosting and amazing black levels the screen will surely exclude my LCD full HD 42" screen with my PS3 hooked up.
Just look at the resolution on my 42" inch tv. Uncharted and stuff (wich is at 720p) allready looks amazing and there barely is aliasing. Then again the Vita has more than half this resolution crammed into a screen that is almost ten times smaller. So in fact if you would extend the 544p resolution to a ten times bigger screen you would get a incredible 5440p screen wich would render all Anti Aliasing useless and make it just like your watching 5 megapixel pictures.
So the Screen will never be a problem for games.
Off course you need a whole lot more to push out UC3 graphics but in my opinion the Vita can come really close.

Yeah when a AAA studio made the game and used the most advanced graphic-engines (or hell they should make their own optimized for Vita) you will surely see games that look like rage or COD and easily reach 30 or more fps.
I'm sure we'll see Developers or even EPIC making a specialised Vita engine that pushes out crysis 2 like visuals while keeping a steady 30 frames per second.

Not saying it wont but you never know if Sony will bring another version of the Vita later on depending if it sells well? Most likely they will only be minor improvements if they did bring like a Slim/Light model out.

Crysis 2 visuals aren't possible on vita, to make it run on PS3, they had to give it a frame rate range of 15 fps to 30 fps, also it had a low 1024x720 resolution on ps3.. so it barely ran on consoles... crysis should be a pc only series, dont get me wrong though, if it was possible i would love to see it on vita

I didn't play it on consoles but on PC and indeed it ran too smooth on my older PC wich was allready pushed by Crysis 1. I would love to see the next part just completely made on PC.

Yeah man, parts of BF3 on pc look like a next gen game, on consoles it just looks like a console game

I think on my 360 BF3 looks a bit better then Crysis 2? Both also run very smoothly, certainly above 30FPS.
But if you look at Forza 4 or Gran Turismo 5, both as far as I know run at 60FPS and look stunning. Yes a PC will do better, but they would, but for console games they look fantastic.
As for MW3, I've no idea, the engine is a bit old but they keep adding to it and improving it every year. We now get Unreal 3 engine games on the iPhone etc.

I cannot see why you can't have a game like Bulletstorm on the VITA running at 30FPS. But we will have to wait for good FPS anyway as the system is new and it will take time for developers to get the best from it, having said that the VITA Wipeout game runs very fast, looking at the videos.

you think mw3 could stay at a steady 60fps on the vita??
I think so especially since it has a double the RAM and lower resolutions in comparison to PS3. The might need to decrease some of the polygon models to keep it at 60fps when there's a lot going on but in my opinion Vita will definetly be able to handle it.

i really do hope so!!

The trouble with the VITA cod though, is, that Treyarch are making it, and we all know what a complete mess they made of the PS3 BLOPS multiplayer! As in disconnections etc etc, still get them now!

But I am praying for a MW type game, I don't like the WW2 gamplay and style..

surely man.....i would wanna buy the game only if it was a modern shooter!! btw how do you know treyarch is making it??

Well I don't know for sure, but they have posted a job listing stating they are bringing COD to a new console, it's either the VITA or Wii U:

+ the fact IW just finished Modern Warfare 3 :) But I don't think the first Vita COD will be made by either of these companies. I think they will first make B company produce it so if it failes (like the PSP version) it wont be a hard hit to the series. If it concours and gets tremendous sales the next one might be by a big team from IW of Treyarch.

thats not so possible....cos if a game is a hit normally the same studio makes the sequel too...like ready at dawn studios and most probably yet i hope its naughty dog , sony bend!!
