Hey,
I'm not sure if this has been announced yet but I did some searching and my question is: How fast will the CPU and GPU be. Because they can put in 640mb ram but if the processor isn't that fast it won't help. I know its a fast one and somewhere I read its clocked at 2.0 ghz but that is allready a long time ago. Anyone knows anything? + this 128mb VRAM? What does it mean for the system. (I'm not to educated in all these hardware talk so try not to make it to hard to read :P

Dont know about CPU speeds but vram is video ram. Used for mostly multimedia devices coaxing high resolution graphics ;) Ithink the vita was made to out perform any handheld gaming device out there.

The CPU max clock speed is 2ghz
the GPU max clock speed is 400mhz

The standard clock speed of the CPU = 800mhz
The standard clock speed of the GPU = 200mhz

What exactly its running on is unknown. The CPU wont be hitting anywhere near 2ghz unless you want to have 5 minutes of battery power ( as the vita designer or developer told us )

Therefore its probably going to be around 800mhz maybe 1ghz at times. the GPU probably will be around the 200mhz.

Nobody knows exactly tho.

Thats pretty lacking if you ask me. PSP had 330mhz if i can recall? I suppose they'll overclock it when the games get even more demanding :D

mhz say nothing other then being a number in a formula.

you cant compare mhz from 1 cpu architecture to another.

Its saying that my cpu i use atm i7 870 clocked at 2,9ghz is slower then a pentium 4 3,2ghz cpu. while in reality mine cpu probably is about 20 times more faster lol.

4x 800mhz a9 cpu's destroy a 333mhz psp cpu on every level.

Oh thats great to hear. I presume it has something to do with the size of the processor and the cache as well? :)

It has to do with a lot of things, even if the clock speed is standard this thing is going ot be atleast 15times + more powerfull

Dual Core CPU and GPU's based on the same architecture as the VITA's are hitting 1.5ghz reading the tech news. But these are dual core however and they are also very power efficient so constantly adjust the actually speed they run at dependant on load.
So I can see the VITA running at 1ghz or maybe 1.5? Either way, the fact the CPU AND GPU are quad core means tons and tons of power.

Don't forget people, what you can do with a processor and gpu is highly dependent on Operating System too. If you have a crappy OS, don't expect much, but with a good OS you can make a CPU/GPU even better! The new Vita OS is made for multi-tasking, while the XMB OS on PSP and PS3 was not.
