Jean-Claude Van Damme is in Mortal Kombat 1

On May 1, 2023 – NetherRealm released a second 30th Anniversary video, but is titled as “Thank you from NetherRealm.” In this collection of “thank you” messages, the teams working with NetherRealm said their thank yous, and followed up with a little smidge of a teaser. On May 10, 2023 – the official Mortal Kombat YouTube channel uploaded a teaser trailer for Mortal Kombat 12. Warner Bros.’ C.E.O. said in a Investor Call that “Mortal Kombat 12 is being released this year.” I’m paraphrasing it, but that’s the jist of what he said. On May 17, 2023 – NetherRealm Studios released a new teaser trailer. Soon after that, NetherRealm Studios officially released the official announce trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, not “Mortal Kombat 12.” Mortal Kombat 1 is a complete reboot of the franchise, a “New Era,” no pun intended. Ed Boon is adamant that Mortal Kombat 1 has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat 11, but Mortal Kombat 1 takes place after the events of Mortal Kombat 11. Ed Boon and NetherRealm announced that Kombat Kast would be returning. That happened on July 6, 2023 – NetherRealm revealed more than Scorpion, and Johnny Cage. During Comic Con 2023, NetherRealm released a new trailer named “Umgadi.” It brings new characters, new locations, and new story information. During DreamCon 2023, NetherRealm Studios released an epic, new trailer for Mortal Kombat called “Keepers of Time” trailer. During EVO 2023 Tournaments, NetherRealm Studios released a new trailer called “Banished.” Geoff Keighley hosted a kickoff event called “Opening Night Live” for Gamescom 2023. During Opening Night Live 2023, Ed Boon brought with him a new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer. It focuses on the Rulers of Outworld. On September 6, 2023 – NetherRealm Studios released a new trailer announcing that Megan Fox is Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1.

Jean-Claude Van Damme has been announced in Mortal Kombat 1 for a while now. It was announced in a Kombat Pack Roster trailer…

Thing is, though – we didn’t know how Jean-Claude Van Damme would look in Mortal Kombat 1. Recently, Ed Boon did a interview with Sean Evans, on his “Hot Ones” show, and he revealed a small snippet of Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay with Jean-Claude Van Damme in it. Jean-Claude Van Damme was originally intended to be the marquee character in Mortal Kombat, so for Ed Boon, it was a full circle moment…

Today, we got the official trailer of Jean-Claude Van Damme in Mortal Kombat 1. Jean-Claude Van Damme is actually a skin for Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 1, rather than a full-on new character. NetherRealm Studios released the “Jean-Claude Van Damme” trailer on YouTube…

Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 19, 2023.
