On January 25, 2023 – Nintendo and Microsoft dropped a major bombshell that GoldenEye 007 would be available for Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles a few days later. Shortly thereafter, on February 8, 2023 – Nintendo finally hosted a Nintendo Direct livestream after weeks of rumors and speculation of a Nintendo Direct presentation in February. There were a lot of games announced, but there were two major announcements from that Nintendo Direct livestream – the first one is/was that GameBoy and GameBoy Advance are now on Nintendo Switch Online as of this writing. The launch titles are Tetris, Super Mario Land 2 – 6 Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX, Gargoyale’s Quest, Game and Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Wario Land 3, Kirby’s Dream Land, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, WarioWare, Inc: Mega Microgame$, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.
More games will be added to Nintendo Switch Online in the future. (As per usual.) To note: GameBoy has a few modes available with the GameBoy version of the Nintendo Switch Online app: GameBoy, GameBoy Pocket, and GameBoy Color. There are some filters, as well. GameBoy Advance is in the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack tier. The second biggest announcement is Metroid Prime Remastered for Nintendo Switch…
Metroid Prime Remastered is not your typical “remaster” even though Nintendo calls it a remaster, it’s more of a remake, where they re-did some textures, redid the environments, redid the special effects, re-did the controls, feel of the game down to the smallest detail. Metroid Prime Remastered is available now for Nintendo Switch, and it only costs $40. Metroid Prime Remastered is available on Nintendo eShop, right now. However, the physical Metroid Prime Remastered retail cartridge will be available on February 22, 2023.
