PSVita Brightness Settings on PS Vita

I may stand alone, but I feel like I have to mention this to someone, because it's very frustrating. Now, I appreciate that Sony is trying very hard to increase battery life for people by doing this, but I still hate them for it. Let me first explain that while I am out and about away from the house, yes, I generally try to conserve my Vita's battery life by decreasing the screen's brightness. However, when I am at home with my charging cable literally feet away I have no need to attempt to conserve battery life, so I like to keep my screen on the highest brightness because, well simply put, everything just looks better that way. But alas, Sony won't allow me to bring my Vita's screen to maximum brightness! It has some sort of setting similar to AVLS under audio settings. It won't let me increase my screen to maximum brightness depending on what light setting I'm in. I know some of you probably don't care, but god it can be annoying. If anyone knows a way around this, please, don't hesitate to let me in on the secret.

Well, it seems after a little bit of searching through the settings, I've answered my own question. For anyone else out there like me who likes to have full control of the brightness on the Vita's display, here is the solution: My problem was that I almost always just hold down the Playstation Home button to adjust the brightness settings, however, under certain light settings, the system won't allow you to increase the brightness to it's max. So to get around this, all you have to do is open the actual settings app, go to brightness, and adjust it however you like. A bit annoying really, but at least it's doable.

Just some advice, the Vita has a OLED screen and that high brightness puts alot of stress on the screen which may cause it to burn out quicker or lead to a burn in on lengthy playing.

Thanks for the advice, but honestly I really don't care if it's going to damage the screen, I just like for things to look the best that they can. If the day comes and my screen is permanently damaged, perhaps I'll just buy a white Vita. Lol.

I really hate the brightness thingy on the vita since I don't really see much difference between lowest and highest brightness. I don't know if this has anything to do with the OLED's capabilities, but I would really like a higher brightness for when you're at home.

You won't see a very large difference between the lowest and the highest if you are in a room that is already properly lit. Try adjusting the settings in a room with the lights turned off, you will notice a difference then. But even if you can't tell the difference, I can tell a pretty significant difference in brightness on high setting compared to low setting even in a well lit room. I think this may have something to do with the fact that I wear glasses. It strains my eyes a bit to try and play a game with the brightness turned down to low. That probably won't make sense to some people, but it's just too hard to see certain things and again I just prefer a higher brightness.

Actually I have had glasses myself and now wear contacts, so I know what you are talking about. The only thing is that I still don't notice a major difference in brightness, even in a dark room. Maybe I'm just too used to the big difference in brightness settings like my iphone 4 has.

My Android has a app that makes the screen go even below the settings for the factory settings. Its called quicker its awesome. But I know what aBakedPie means. Maybe its this app and I remember the psp you could tell the difference. Especially when the psp was plugged in. when I'm outside I usually have to have it on the brightest setting.
