PSVita Would you buy an upgraded version of PSV?

i like the fact they didn't make the vita as thin as possible. like they did with galaxy s2. that way it just doesnt sit nicely in your hand and it feels so fragile. the vita is just the perfect weight, size and thickness for a handheld gaming device

You're all forgetting about the possibility of a third touchpad and analog stick! Imagine the innovative gameplay with additional features such as those. Oh, and to make it better, a second gyroscope! It would become so awesome that no one would ever put it down and die from lack of sleep. . . Just kidding.

In all honesty, I couldn't think of a single feature to even tempt me to upgrade, but I still think Sony should do it. All this hype about the Vita is going to get it a massive amount of customers and if they can do it again two years later, they will. Even if it's just slightly more responsive touch pads, and a bit longer lasting battery life, it will revive the hype once more and get more people to the console even if very little of the previous buyers actually upgrade to the new Vita.

Then, after two years of practising multiplayer games on the Vita, there would a flood of newbies to the console and we could have tons of fun stomping them to the ground!

What would be the use of a third analogue stick?

Eh that wouldn't work. Games would have to made specifically for the Vita 2 or whatever and that leaves the Vita 1 owners completely bumped.

Hmmm, dunno if buying a new model is really that neccesary. they always say a console may break down after 3 years. well i havent been very carefull with my psp phat, (even replaced the joystick multiple times and cleaned the inner body) and it still works good enough. i don't use umd any more since it makes this anoyying noise and uses a lot of power. so i bought a memory stick pro duo but not all games run smooth from the mspd because the fat is only compatible with ms duo. but most games work. only prerendered cutscenes from ghost of sparta, daxter and jak and daxter have an annoying lag in it. but when i play them from my other stick it works just fine.
But back to the point. my fat still does the job well enough until vita comes out and the psp will probably end up somewhere under a pile of dirty underwear in the corner of my room. because hey. the vita can do annything the psp can. (except play these annoying umd's)
so i don't think i will be willing to spend another 250 euro on a new model when my original vita still works fine. Unless sony adds some kind of incredebly cool feature like lets say 3d

About this 3d effect. Wouldn't it be cool if sony did a newer version within 3 or 4 years where you get 3d games. they should add 2 back camera's, a hd 3d screen and a few extra processors. they could easily do the same as with ps3 where 3d games can be played even on the older models without 3d tv or extra ram. Oh and they should add anouther 512 mb ram in the next model to make everything a lot smoother.
Not that i'm dissapointed with the announced version of the vita but in 3 or 4 years there will be easier and better techniques available and sony will want to evolve with the technology so the customers keep streaming in.

To me, 3d is only good for TV and Movies. 3d without glasses like the 3ds sacrifices quality of the screen. And makes your eyes hurt.

I think you asking for a bit much. I would be happy with a slight re-design and one or two extra features. Also remember that sony is selling the vita at a loss, so the re-design should cost them LESS to make not MORE otherwise they will never make a profit.

As my post says, I was kidding. I was basically trying to point out that there really isn't a possibility for an upgrade.
There are very many possibilities for upgrading Vita
1. HDMI mini Port like in the developer kit
2. Better OLED screen
3. Glasses free 3D OLED screen (Sony has out right said they wanted to use a 3D screen but chose not to but in a revision, they might revisit the idea again) plus they were showing a 5 inches glasses free 3D OLED screen at CES earlier this year.
4. Refined clickable Analog Sticks like in the developers kit.
5. Button placement change
6. Better Cameras
7. Reduction in size (maybe a smaller 4.5 inch screen ?)

If it's only an upgrade, then it will still play the same games. The only upgrade in games will be for the next generation systems. (psp 3?)

Yeah they really miss out on non clickable joystick.
Oh, I didn't actually know if it was clickable. :D

I didn't know about 1. and 4., but besides these, they would probably make very little profit off of some of the upgrades listed. The reducing the size is really a downgrade, since core gamers are looking for the best graphics, hardware and features. If you want a small system, Apple's got a great one. Better cameras could significantly increase the price, depending on the amount. The cameras are surprisingly well done, and paying for an upgrade for a camera may seem reasonable at first, but remember that there is two cameras, and the only use for a higher quality camera would be taking pictures, which only needs one, not two. Buy two, use one.

Changing button placement would be no reason to buy a new one, and barely a reason to buy it over an older model. Also upgrading the screen would provide barely more detail, which also isn't a reason to upgrade, and only barely better than the old model.

Three main upgrading points are usually:
1. Hardware
2. Features

There really isn't going to be any better hardware for a LONG time and besides the analog sticks and HDMI, really no reason to even consider a new model, and the two decent strongest points of the model would be very little difference.

If I was Sony, I wouldn't even really release a new model for quite some time, until hardware improves, which would probably result in a PSP3 over a Vita 2.0 (Upgraded). Or prove to be fairly pointless because the original could still run everything else the new model could.

But if you upgrade the system by a significant amount, but make sure all games can still run on the old system. Every new game released wouldn't push the boundaries of the current gaming industry. If they made games exclusive to the new model, (Which would really be a like PS 3 games can't run on PS 2 but PS 2 can run on PS 3) then they would have much better games that aren't dated back to what they had 4 years ago, even though they have new technology.

psp 1000 was released in 2005 and psp 2000 was released in 2007 and so on. there is a likely chance of a ps vita 2000 being released in 2014 if sony follows the 2 year pattern.

I
I agree with you on the 2000 to 3000 update, maybe it was a "cost savings" update, not sure. I got a Go because i didn't have my 2000 anymore (dumb move!) and i got it for $100 if i remember right. If the Go had a UMD trade-in program, all games supported on PSN then it would have had a real chance.

I kind of feel that Sony was already far into production with the Vita and just let the Go fall. Not sure really why it was created, Sony sometimes makes interesting electronics or upgrades that don't make as much sense.
I think sony released the go to see how the market would react to dl only distribution to see if ther should include physical media with the ps vita. They figured that apple pulls it off pretty well might as well try it with a device that has physical medias on the market already. Instead of releasing a whole new product line with just dl distribution. Obvisously it failed. For go adopters like me it makes the ps vita bc compatible since all of my investments ign psp games are in the cloud.
