  • Call of Duty Warzone integrated starting with Season One of Black Ops Cold War

Call of Duty Warzone integrated starting with Season One of Black Ops Cold War

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was released on November 13, 2020. The big story isn’t the release of Black Ops Cold War anymore. The big story is the integration of Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War into Call of Duty: Warzone. When is this integration going to take place? On December 16, 2020 with the Season One patch update of Black Ops Cold War. A little bit was revealed recently, talking about prestige system coming to Warzone, but Activision was coy, vague, and cryptic with how this would happen. Activision went in deptth with this in their CallofDuty.com blog, which will be detailed below. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s first DLC drop, “Season One” faced a delay, originally scheduled to release December 10th, is now a December 16th release. To coincide with the release of Season One, Activision sent some cryptic packages to content creators to decipher and unearth some easter eggs related to Black Ops Cold War, one of those is a livestreamed radio station which can be seen below…

Just keep this for your future reference, it is a easter egg to open another easter egg. It always happens with Treyarch games. Treyarch is well-known for their cryptic videos, numbers, and easter eggs.

As noted previously, Activision posted a new blog post on CallofDuty.com to talk about the upcoming Call of Duty Warzone integration of Modern Warfare, and Black Ops Cold War…

“Team, wrap up any unfinished business. Once we strike, there’s no turning back.” – Russell Adler, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

With Season One incoming, Black Ops Cold War will be even more integrated into Warzone, bringing its available weapon total to 80+ individual primary and secondaries and Operators to 50+ just off what was available already in Black Ops Cold War. Furthermore, a new progression system and more will add plenty to explore on top of everything that the free-to-play online experience has offered since its launch.

Most of the Black Ops Cold War Operators have been playable within Warzone, giving you a small taste of what’s to come in Black Ops Cold War Season One. This is everything that you can expect when that happens, working across each part of the main Warzone menu

Dropping into Warzone for Season One will be done in a similar fashion to all prior seasons: from the Play menu.

Here, you can choose to play one of the featured playlists, including those that have to do with the new experience coming in Season One, as well as jump into a Private Match, Practice Modes, or Trials from Modern Warfare.

Next let’s talk about what’s coming to your loadouts.

In Season One, weapons from Black Ops Cold War’s launch – from the Knife to the LW3 – Tundra sniper rifle and every primary and secondary weapon in between – will be added into Warzone and fine-tuned to best perform within this free-to-play experience. This includes:

    ·      Five Assault Rifles

    ·      Five Submachine Guns

    ·      Four Marksman (Tactical) Rifles

    ·      Three Light Machine Guns

    ·      Three Sniper Rifles

    ·      Three Pistols

    ·      Two Shotguns

    ·      Three Launchers (including the Special Launcher)

    ·      One Melee Weapon

In addition, throughout Season One expect to obtain additional free-to-acquire weapons via the free tiers of the Battle Pass system and in-game Challenges.

Maxed out your weapon in Black Ops Cold War? Bring all of its attachments into the Warzone. Otherwise, play with these weapons in Warzone to unlock its attachments in both games thanks to shared progression.

All attachments unlocked for Black Ops Cold War weapons will be available through the Gunsmith, allowing you to modify the weapon for use within Warzone. That doesn’t even count the free weapons included in the Season One Battle Pass system, any additional weapons to be released in Warzone or Black Ops Cold War, or the current and future Blueprint variants of these weapons.

At the start of Season One, expect the Mil-Sim Operators Song (NATO) and Vargas (Warsaw Pact) to become available in Warzone. All of the other launch-day Black Ops Cold War Operators are already available in Warzone, providing you unlock any necessary challenges related to them.

That brings the total number of available Operators past the half century mark for Season One. In other words, you’ll be able to choose or randomly shuffle between 50+ unique Operators, not including any future Black Ops Cold War Operators that will simultaneously appear in Warzone or any additional Warzone Operators to come.

This new menu in Warzone is where you’ll track your progression from the Military Ranks to each Season’s levelling journey.

When Season One drops, expect your level to synchronize across all three titles based on your current Military Rank or Prestige Level. Players who have advanced past the Military Ranks will begin the new season at Season Level 1. Note that all your previous unlocks from Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare (such as Weapons, Perks, Scorestreaks, or Killstreaks) remain unlocked.

After rising through the Military Ranks by earning XP across any of the three games, you’ll advance to the Season Levels, a brand-new system that includes new Prestige Levels and Prestige Icons from the world of Black Ops.

Haven’t earned your 400th Battle Royale victory or your 300th game of Plunder yet? Left a few Missions from previous seasons incomplete?

Don’t worry. All Mastery Challenges and Missions from prior seasons can still be completed as normal. You can find them still living in the Challenges tab alongside your Daily Challenges.

Again, those that can complete them all can consider themselves true Warzone masters, but you can take all the time – and infils – you need to get them done.

Because Career is the new home for all Progression-related menus, the Barracks is now solely dedicated to your Player Profile.

Here, you can find all the Calling Cards and Emblems that are carried over from Black Ops Cold War, as well as the option to customize Gestures & Sprays and put on a Clan or Regiment Tag. Furthermore, the Barracks will house your Records from Warzone, including the Leaderboards and various Commendations you earned while playing the game.

In Season One, there will be a new Battle Pass with 100 tiers of content and plenty of bundles in the Store. Nearly all these items can be used in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, including the new weapons that are available for free within the Season One Battle Pass System.

There is one main exception to this rule: vehicle skins. Because Black Ops Cold War and Warzone do not share vehicles, this content will be separated between the two games.

In the Battle Pass System, specific tiers will offer two skins: one for a vehicle in Black Ops Cold War and another for a vehicle inside Warzone. As for Store bundles, Black Ops Cold War vehicle skins will be included as a bonus on top of all content that is available in both games, such as Weapon Blueprints and Operator skins.

    A Note on Content Compatibility*

As the Black Ops Cold War seasons progress and the Warzone story unfolds, be certain that our teams are working diligently to ensure all of this content is accessible. While there are no current plans to remove content from Warzone, to ensure the best possible player experience, there may be occasions where content is released at different times or becomes temporarily or permanently inaccessible.

    * Content may be temporarily or permanently removed from Warzone in the future, based on game or thematic changes, technical or legal requirements, and/or storage limitations.

  • Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed, again, but only for a month

Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed, again, but only for a month

Cyberpunk 2077, has been through trials and tribulations over the years. Cyberpunk 2077 was announced in 2013. It debuted during E3 2019 with Keanu Reeves taking the stage with a standing ovation. Then, at The Game Awards, they went behind the scenes with the music of Cyberpunk 2077. On January 16, 2020 – CD Projekt Red announced a new release date: September 17, 2020. On June 18, 2020 – CD Projekt Red announced a new release date for Cyberpunk 2077…

In January 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed due to game development progression. From what was being said, it sounded like it was around alpha/beta stages of development, and they needed time to properly complete the game, rather than having it being rushed in time for the holidays.

    Cyberpunk 2077 January 2020 Delay

In June 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed amid a global pandemic. However, the reasoning wasn’t because of the Coronavirus (ahem; COVID19.) It was cited that the game is playable, but they required time to finish, and polish the game to completion.

    Cyberpunk 2077 June 2020 Delay

In October 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed to December 10, 2020. It was announced on October 27, 2020, and players are pissed off. It went gold a while ago (October 5th, to be precise.)

But, the reason for the delay has more to do with making sure every single version of Cyberpunk 2077 works 100%… Including on the Day 0 patch, according to CD Projekt Red…

Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive on December 10, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. They will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X via Backward Compatibility.

To tide you over until release, here’s a video by CD Projekt Red…

  • How Backwards Compatibility will work on PlayStation 5

How Backwards Compatibility will work on PlayStation 5

PlayStation 5’s Backwards Compatibility has been a subject of discussion since the “Road to PS5” Conference that was intended for Game Developers Conference (GDC 2020), but due to COVID19, they opted for a livestream. One of the things discussed was the PlayStation 5’s Backward Compatibility. During the conference, they said the console can do BC for some PS4 games, or at least a lot of PS4 games. Soon, shortly after the event wrapped up, they announced that PlayStation 5 will play 90% (majority of…) PS4 games from the get-go. At this point of time, we still didn’t know much about how it’ll work. Until now.

On October 9, 2020 – Sony took to their PlayStation Blog to announce prospective PS5 owners’ top questions…

When the PlayStation 5 launches this November, more than 99 percent of the 4000+ games available on PS4 will be playable on PS5. We know you have questions about how PS4 games will work on PS5, so here is a quick overview on some common questions we’ve seen from the PlayStation community.

What console generation games are supported with PS5’s backward compatibility feature?

We are focused on the huge catalog of games on PlayStation 4, and we’re pleased that more than 99% of PS4 games will be playable on PS5 on day one. This includes games that have defined the PS4 generation – from critically acclaimed PlayStation exclusives like The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima, to blockbuster hits from our third-party partners.

What is the difference between playing PS4 games on the PS5 Digital Edition console, versus the PS5 console with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive?

The gaming experience on both models will be the same. However, how you access the content to play will differ:

    PS5 Digital Edition

    • You will be able to play digital versions of your compatible PS4 games on the PS5 Digital Edition console. These will be compatible PS4 digital games you have already purchased, or plan to purchase, via PlayStation Store on PS4, PS5, web or PlayStation mobile app.
    • Since there is no disc drive, you won’t be able to play your PS4 disc-based games on the PS5 Digital Edition.

PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive

    • You can play digital versions of your compatible PS4 games you downloaded from PlayStation Store on PS4, PS5, web or PlayStation mobile app.
    • You can also use physical PS4 game discs.

When you sign in to PS5 with your account for PlayStation Network, you will automatically see your library of played PS4 content through the menu.

Be sure to keep the PS5 console updated to the latest system software update available, and apply all available game patches to the game.

What is the PS4 game experience like on PS5?

PS4 titles get even better on PS5. Select PS4 titles will see increased loading speeds on the PS5 console, and will also leverage Game Boost, offering improved or more stable frame rates. Some titles with unlocked frame rates or dynamic resolution up to 4K may see higher fidelity. Additionally, PS4 games will also take advantage of some of PS5’s new UX features, but more to come on that later.

Are games from PlayStation VR backward compatible?

Yes, PlayStation VR games are included among the thousands of PS4 games that are playable on PS5. Please note that playing PS VR games on a PS5 console requires a PS VR headset, DualShock 4 wireless controller or PlayStation Move controller(s), and PS Camera (for PS4), which are sold separately from the PS5 console. Also, the PS5 HD Camera is not compatible with PS VR on PS5. You’ll need to use the PS Camera (for PS4), and the PS Camera adaptor (no purchase required), to use PS VR on PS5.

What about PS4 games on PS Now and PS Plus?

Backward compatible PS4 games included in PS Plus or PS Now will run on PS5.

    Can I stream PS4 games on PS5?

Yes, Remote Play from PS4 to PS5 and PS Now streaming are supported. The benefit of streaming is that you can save your storage space on PS5. Please note that PS4 games will not leverage PS5’s Game Boost through streaming.

How do PS4 game transfers and game saves work between the two consoles?

You can transfer digital games, game data, and game saves from a PS4 console to a PS5 console using LAN cables, or by connecting wirelessly (WiFi). If you’ve already stored PS4 games and game data in the external USB storage device connected to your PS4, you can bring them over to PS5 with that external USB storage device. And if you are a PS Plus member, you can also sync PS4 game saves on PS5 through cloud storage.

Please note that the ability to transfer game saves between a PS4 version and a PS5 version of the same game is a developer decision, and will vary title by title for cross-generational games.

For Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, when players decide to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 their game saves will transfer.* Sackboy: A Big Adventure also will support game save transfers from PS4 to PS5 in an update that will be delivered shortly after the release of the game.* We’ll share additional details on both games closer to launch.

How will I know which PS4 games aren’t playable?

Games that are only playable on PS4 will be noted on PlayStation Store as playable on “PS4 only.” We have a list of games that are only playable on PS4, along with additional information on backward compatibility here: playstation.com/ps5-backwards-compatibility

*If players originally purchase a PS4 game disc, the PlayStation 5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive is required to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version of the game and transfer their saves over.

If you click that link, it will take you to the Questions and Answers of PlayStation 5’s Backwards Compatibility, and how it’ll work…

The PS5 console is backward compatible with the overwhelming majority of PS4 games. That means an amazing collection of thousands of PS4 games can be played on your PS5 console.

PS4 games playable on PS5 consoles
The overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 games are playable on PS5 consoles.

    • Select PS4 games will benefit from the PS5 console’s Game Boost, which may make PS4 games run with a higher or smoother frame rate.
    • Although many PS4 games are playable on PS5 consoles, some functionalities that were available on the PS4 console may not be available on PS5 consoles. In addition, some PS4 games may exhibit errors or unexpected behavior when played on PS5 consoles.
    • Before purchasing add-ons to play with your PS4 games on PS5 consoles, please try to boot and play your PS4 games on your PS5 console to see if you are happy with the play experience.
    • Please note, playing PS VR games on a PS5 console requires a PlayStation VR headset, a PS camera (sold separately from PS5 console) and a PS camera adaptor (no purchase required).
    • Always update your PS5 console to the latest version of the system software.
