  • Free-For-All mode announced for Gears of War: Judgment – This Is Xbox

Microsoft, Epic Games and developers People Can Fly has recently revealed that Gears of War: Judgment will feature a Free-For-All multiplayer mode. As used in other franchises such as Halo and Call of Duty – the every man for himself option should prove to be successful for casual players who like to step aside from the team work once in awhile.

The new mode can be viewed and played this weekend during PAX Prime in Seattle at booth #412 where two new maps Gondola and Library will be featured as detailed below:

    • GONDOLA – The Coastal Villa Apartments are part of the exclusive Halvo community located in the prestigious Agora foothills. Residents enjoy a host of interior upgrades, and each unit features an ocean view from a private patio or balcony. This quiet, gated community is located only a short gondola ride from the renowned shops and businesses of our active and thriving coastal community.
    • LIBRARY – The Alexiy Desipich Memorial Library is not a library in the traditional sense, but rather an archive of important documents surrounding his life, career, and personal interests. An avid historian, politician, and philosopher, Desipich is most remembered as the father and creator of the Austere Canon, the basis for the Coalition of Ordered Governments, which was shaped around eight guiding principles: Order, Diligence, Purity, Labor, Honor, Loyalty, Faith, and Humility.

Gears of War: Judgment will be released exclusively for the Xbox 360 on March 19th 2013.

RUMOR: Black Ops II’s Zombie Mode Being Detailed Next Week

A slew of information has been dropped about Black Ops II since its initial reveal, but we currently know little about the highly anticipated Zombie mode. According to the game’s Twitter page, though, that’s all about to change soon.

A Tweet simply stating, “Something’s coming…..” came out of developer Treyarch yesterday, and while the message may seem pretty cryptic on its own, the below image that was attached to the post is what leads us to think this is all about Zombies.

We don’t know about you, but the bloody hand print just reeks of the undead. We’ve heard that a four vs. four, competitive take on the mode is a possibility, but with PAX Prime just around the corner, expect an absolute information blowout. Maybe, if we’re lucky, the game will even be playable.

The new zombies mode has been rumored to feature competitive multiplayer aspects.  Games that involve two teams, four vs four, that are fighting for both score and survival are among those in the rumor mill.  Many gamers are expecting to hear that score streaks and other features from the traditional multiplayer mode are on their way as well.

Any other ideas on what the image means? Do you think we’ll get to see Zombies in action? How are you feeling about the Black Ops 2 information revealed so far?  Just let us know by posting in the comments below, or discuss Black Ops 2 in our forums.

  • Call Of Duty: Black Ops II Gamescom Hands-On Preview – ZoKnowsGaming

As I have mentioned on this site a few times before, I’m not the world’s greatest Call Of Duty fan. I played through the first three titles on PC and XBOX 360 before jumping on board with Modern Warfare on the PS3. I enjoyed every single player campaign but felt that as they went on they became less imaginative and shorter in duration. I flirted a bit with the multiplayer of Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 without getting particularly involved in either, and I decided to forgo Modern Warfare 3 last year completely. I didn’t feel that I had missed out on anything particularly.20120817 1219531 300x400

You may want to crucify me at this point, and demand to know why I spent nearly two hours on a baking hot Gamescom day queuing to play the latest Call of Duty game, Black Ops II. Well, truthfully I did it for you guys, because I know how passionate a lot of you feel about the series. I have to say though that I did enjoy the 15 minutes or so I eventually got to experience of the game, to the extent that I am seriously thinking about jumping back onto the Call of Duty bandwagon this holiday.

The Activision stand at Gamescom was actually separated into two identical monoliths housing machines playing Black Ops II. I never got to find out whether one enclosure was for single player and one for multiplayer, mainly because I don’t speak German, and secondly because I couldn’t stomach another 90 minute wait to find out! Suffice to say that my queue got to test out the multiplayer aspect of the game.

You will have to forgive the lack of direct photos accompanying this article, as Activision was very strict about cameras being used within the enclosure. Essentially after snaking around the corner of the building and past a drone on a moving wire we were led into darkened corridors, and eventually to the enclosure itself, where we were able to watch other players competing before the time came eventually to take our seats.

black ops ii gamescom screens 5 533x300Prior to this though, we experienced a briefing in a darkened room wearing some nifty headsets. We were told that we would be testing out two brand new multiplayer modes; Multi-Team Deathmatch and Stronghold. The first of these was the most fun in my opinion – and is an idea I cant believe Infinity Ward or any of the other developers of the series hadn’t already come up with. Rather than just two teams facing each other, we were separated into 4 separate teams of four players and had to choose to either work together or all against each other. The small number of players in each team made for a much more cohesive team, whilst still allowing a large number of players on the map as a whole. The winning team got a special edition t-shirt, suffice to say that wasn’t my team. I did come in at the top in my own group of four though, which was at least some comfort!

Stronghold I found a little confusing at first, as essentially your task is to attack and protect moving areas. I tend to prefer the more run and gun styles of play so I didn’t have as much fun when playing Stronghold. What was impressive though was the new ‘create a class’ system which lets you tinker with your load-out to a very detailed level and chose your weapon enhancements and other customizations whilst not being tied to a certain class.

Another change is that killstreaks have been removed, to be replaced by scorestreaks, which allow you to build up points by doing anything in the game that may be beneficial to your team, rather than just out and out kills, which was another nice move I felt. The streaks themselves were a nice mixture of old and new; with dog attacks, care packages and tactical nuclear strikes all options.

Aside from all of these changes however the game still played and felt like Call Of Duty. The levels themselves were a familiar mixture of military buildings, crashed planes and dusty roads offering little cover and skills perfected in previous games will still serve you well. Bottom line, if you liked Call Of Duty before you will love this, if you hated it then nothing here will change your mind.

What about me though? As I said I certainly enjoyed my time with the multiplayer build, and the single player mode seems interesting enough to get me interested with a mixture of futuristic fighting and cold war flashbacks. Don’t be surprised to see me online come December 26th checking it out – but go easy on me! Oh, and if you guys have any questions about the Gamescom demo, feel free to ask me below. And tomorrow or today depending on when my Editor publishes this? Resident Evil 6!

  • Black Ops 2 Score in Matches Won’t Directly Translate to XP – Gameranx

While you might already be up to your neck when it comes to Black Ops 2 multiplayer info, we still have more. Remember when Treyarch unveiled the revamped create-a-class loadout during Gamescom? What about scorestreaks replacing killstreaks? Well, now it seems even how you earn XP in the game is getting changed.

Normally in Call of Duty multiplayer, once you kill someone for 100 points, that’s the XP you earn. This won’t be the case in Black Ops 2. David Vonderhaar, game director for Black Ops 2, has confirmed this in a tweet.

Unlike all previous games, the number in the center of the screen is the * Score * you earn for doing something. Not the XP earned. +

Of course, we don’t know how this exactly works now. Does getting a headshot net you more score but not more XP? What about revenge kills, comeback kills and all that sort? Hopefully, we’ll know this and more before Black Ops 2 hits on November 13 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II isn’t even out yet, but you just know Activision’s got another Call of Duty in the pipeline for next year. According to an industry source for Se7ensins, there’s some serious work on the title going on at famed Tony Hawk developer Neversoft.

According to Se7ensins, their source was able to spot a wealth of concept artwork, mission plans, and similar materials on desks and cubicle walls while touring the Neversoft offices. The information gleaned was apparently representative of another title in the Modern Warfare chronology, and the source had the following notes jotted down:

“It’s another MW game. There’s something called, ‘Drone Survaillance’. They’re working on ‘HALO’ jumps (High Altitude; Low X.) There is a level under ice. There is cloaking tech. Somethin called a ‘Dominator UAV’.”

Sounds… familiar? In any case, it makes sense for Neversoft to be acting as development assistants on parent company Activision’s absolute biggest franchise, but could Neversoft have stepped up to fill the shoes of Infinity Ward as lead developers? If so, what is Infinity Ward working on?

We’ll have the answers before too long, so keep it tuned to PSU.com for more on all things of Call of Duty.
