Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Story Campaign Revealed

After previewing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III to basketball players before the actual reveal. Promotional materials for Call of Duty 2023 was leaked and lead players to believe that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is the final name of 2023’s Call of Duty title. Activision sent out a package to content creators like Swagg to send them into a scavenger hunt. When the scavenger hunt did not go over too well with fans, the next morning, Activision let the cat out of the bag: It’s official – Call of Duty 2023 is Modern Warfare III. That didn’t take long for us to get more information about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. The antagonist is in fact Makarov. The first teaser of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III had a silhouette of Makarov and Captain Price. With the new reveal trailer, Makarov is the focus, and alludes to his storyline. Activision released a blog post to talk about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’s “Carry Forward” plan. In this new plan, you can carry your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II content forward into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. Activision and the teams working on Call of Duty 2023 released a 3GB update to unveil Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’s gameplay inside the Call of Duty: Warzone experience. In that reveal, Sledgehammer Games revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’s gameplay.

During Gamescom 2023, Geoff Keighley hosted a kickoff livestream called “Opening Night Live,” Sledgehammer Games revealed more Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III gameplay, but it focused more on the campaign aspect of the game…

Activison says that the game takes place after the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. You will begin the game on and in Zordaya Prison Complex, where Makarov is supposedly being held. You are in a PMC (Private Military Company) called “Alpha Team,” and you will descend into the depths of Zordaya Prison Complex in order to find your HVT (High Value Target). [Source]

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has a different single player campaign this time around. Up until now, Call of Duty games have had a linear campaign mode. Linear as in, going from A to B, with a little bit of “choices.” Choices is going to be a major theme in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, because Modern Warfare III is more or less an “Open World” game, with a new innovation known as “Open Combat Missions.” You already know what an “Open World” game is, it’s a mode where you’re freely able to move around in an open environment, a “world.” On this canvas, you’re able to go from A to B in one mission, and A to B in another mission without a single player menu that drops you into a linear storyline.
