Google unveiled Google Stadia back in March, without a release date, without pricing details, business models, and the games will release alongside Stadia. This morning, Google hosted their “Stadia Connect” event (which was livestreamed, by the way) before E3 2019 gets underway to unveil the release date for Stadia, the pricing model, and the games that will launch with Google Stadia.
To see that livestream, you can see below…
There are about 3 tiers of Google’s Stadia. At launch the Base Tier of the service will not be available, it will launch in 2020. What the Base Tier of Stadia will entail has not been revealed or talked about, but can purchase games, and have unlimited access to the library with up to 1080p/60fps with stereo sound. However, how it will work still remains to be seen.
The Pro Tier or how they are calling it “Stadia Pro” will cost $9.99 a month. In addition to the base features – have unlimited access to the library of games, and have the option of purchasing games. In this subscription, you’ll be able to stream from 1080p/60fps with stereo sound to up to 4K/60fps/HDR in 5.1 surround sound. Pro also has some discounts and the option of streaming your games even when your subscription lapses. In addition, the Stadia Pro subscription also gives you full access to all of Destiny 2, and the add-ons.
Finally, Stadia Founder’s Edition is actually a package of goodies that includes Stadia Pro, but in buying Stadia Founder’s Edition, you also attain first dibs, and a special Stadia name. Along with 3-month Stadia Pro access, you also get another 3-month Stadia Pro to give to your friend. You’ll also get a limited-edition night blue controller, and a Chromecast Ultra. You can pre-order Stadia now – Right Here.
