Call of Duty 2019 is reportedly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

We’ve been getting conflicting reports about COD2019 as of late. We still don’t know the title of the next Call of Duty. As of right now, Activision has not confirmed anything about Call of Duty 2019, other than from the investor calls of late 2018, and early 2019. The game will take the series back to its roots according to one executive. During the early 2019 call, they avoided discussions about the next Call of Duty title, instead focusing on Call of Duty Mobile.

Normally, we’d be getting teasers in March, April, and/or May. Right now, we’re at the tail end of May. This is far too late for a reveal of a Call of Duty title. The latest its ever been revealed is May 23 for Modern Warfare 3. According to LongSensation, the reveal is on May 30th. That’s a Thursday, a week from now.

Normally, I’d be excited about a title reveal, but this one? Not so much, and for a good reason. According to Long Sensation, the name of Call of Duty 2019 is simply “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.”

Let’s go backwards here: In 2007, Activision released Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In 2016, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was bundled with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Do you see the issue? Pay attention, the naming is confusing. While this is the fourth iteration in the franchise, this seems to be a prequel. And likewise it is a Soft Reboot according to a reporter.

And the funny thing is, Robert Bowling (known as FourZeroTwo or 402) stealth leaked the title before everyone else…

To be fair. To be fair, currently he’s working for Electronic Arts. Why would Bowling be leaking a competitor’s title if he’s working with the competition. Obviously, nobody took him seriously. Me either. It was a weird tweet, but he did leak it before everyone else.

I screencapped the tweets because I noticed that the reporter and a few others have had their tweets deleted. Stay Tuned for more information about the new Call of Duty title.
