XDefiant is a first person shooter developed by Ubisoft, directed by Mark Rubin. XDefiant has been in what’s known as “early access” type of test sessions with the community since August 5, 2021. The final beta test of XDefiant was held on April 19, 2024 to April 21, 2024. XDefiant is scheduled to be released May 21, 2024, and it is known as the “preseason” phase of the game. Ubisoft laid out the roadmap for XDefiant in a blog post. On May 15, 2024 – Ubisoft released the launch trailer for XDefiant…
Originally, XDefiant was known as “Tom Clancy’s XDefiant.” After user/player feedback, Ubisoft decided in a re-brand to drop the “Tom Clancy” name from the game, and remove the punk-rock style of the game. With each test of XDefiant, Ubisoft took on all the feedback players had towards XDefiant. Including all the delays. Players were looking for an alternative to Call of Duty. Things got to a boiling point in October 2023 – in which Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III had a Multiplayer Beta, in this beta, we had NO SBMM. The next update that was deployed? SBMM was turned up. Mark Rubin took to the official Ubisoft video to slam Activision and Infinity Ward. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’s lead developer was Sledgehammer Games, but Infinity Ward worked on the game, too. So, during development, and after launch, Sledgehammer Games was doing everything to fix the issues of Modern Warfare II, and took on all the feedback of Call of Duty fans. But Infinity Ward sabotaged the developers with the SBMM system on the backend. So, yes, Mark Rubin slammed Infinity Ward, and by extension – Activision. Mark Rubin said that SBMM in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – (a game he worked on, by the way) – was light.
