In 1993, Virgin Games has been releasing licensed Aladdin and Lion King games for Sega’s Genesis console, Nintendo’s Gameboy, and Super Gameboy handhelds, and Super Nintendo console. They were met with critical and mass market praise for the gameplay and graphics quality. It’s like the games were ripped out of the films themselves. In 1992 and 1994 respectively, Aladdin and Lion King was scorching the earth in popularity due to the artistic animation and art direction.
Originally, the story broke at GameStop’s own conference, Nighthawk Interactive announced that the Sega Genesis, Game Boy, and Super Game Boy versions of Virgin Games’ Aladdin, and the SNES version of The Lion King would come back, but with additional remastering, features, and other bonuses.
The games will not be sold separately, but rather in a bundle. It’ll be called “Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King,” it’ll retail for $29.99. The bundle will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC this Fall. The bundle has a release date of October 29, 2019 according to Best Buy pre-order page. Obviously, it’ll be released in GameStop stores worldwide since it was revealed at GameStop’s own conference.
