Madden 20 has been confirmed to arrive on August 2nd, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, to obtain the PC version of the game, you’ll need to go through EA’s digital distribution service – Origin.

The new features that will come with Madden 20 are subtle, but improvements over the previous Madden iterations. The first feature talked about by EA is “Face of the Franchise.” In Face of the Franchise, you take the journey of a college football athlete rising the ranks to become a professional football player. Scouts seek you out, and try to sign you into the NFL. Next up is Ultimate Team Missions, in this feature, you’re able to modify your team to build the ultimate football team. (No pun intended, heh.)

Though limited, actual college teams are confirmed to be in the game. EA confirmed about… 10 college teams are in the game. Furthermore, “Last long enough and you just might leave a legacy and even play in a few Pro Bowls. This new and customizable career campaign is all about you, with personalized playable scenarios, events, and dynamic challenges. The choices you make early on will affect how your career pans out,” EA says.

I’m not sure how the “Face of the Franchise” will work, but based on EA’s wording, there seems to be a branching storyline system in place, where your choices determine your legacy. Vague, but sounds like there’ll be different storylines or endings.

Another feature touted by EA is the “X-Factor Players.” In this mode (it’s a mode, right, EA?), you are able to add unique abilities to NFL Superstars. EA elaborated to GameSpot as “In total there will be around 50 Superstar X-Factor players and over 30 additional Superstar players,” EA says. “The difference between the two are the Zone abilities and Superstar abilities. Zone abilities are best described as once-a-season moments that only the league’s best can pull off, while Superstar abilities are traits that are unique to some of the most talented players that you see each and every game. In total there are over 20 Zone abilities for the 50 Superstar X-Factor players and over 140 Superstar abilities. Each game you will see and feel the difference because of these special traits.”

Madden 20 has another feature relating to sounds or music in the game. According to EA, the Urban Symphony is “a soundtrack that highlights pop culture, hip-hop music, and urban lifestyle trends, while mixing in traditional musical elements of the sport (i.e. marching bands) to create an original soundtrack that truly delivers on the emotion, history and meaning of football.”

I don’t know if I got that right, but eh. Madden 20 has not one, but two Collectors Editions, and they are “Superstar Edition” and “Ultimate Super Star Edition.”

The Ultimate Superstar Edition comes with…

  • Three-day early access
  • 15 Gold Team Fantasy Packs
  • Your choice of one out of 32 Core Elite Players from your favorite NFL team
  • One large Training Quicksell Pack in Madden Ultimate Team
  • One Past and Present Elite Player Pack
  • One Madden Championship Series Pack in Madden Ultimate Team
  • Your choice of one unique Legend Superstar Ability for your created player in Face of the Franchise: QB1
