Vince Zampella was sitting very close to the front row of Electronic Arts’ “EA Play” event to announce that his company, Respawn Enertainment – was working on a new Star Wars game. The title was “Jedi: Fallen Order.” No one knew much about the new game until a few days ago, we got a tease of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. We wouldn’t have to wait any longer – the Star Wars Celebration event was going to take place on April 13th. The event was livestreamed throughout the weekend starting Friday, but we didn’t get a whole lot of information until at least 10-20 minutes after the reveal of Jedi: Fallen Order.
What is Jedi: Fallen Order? Jedi Fallen Order is an Action game. Jedi: Fallen Order is a Single Player game with a strong emphasis on story. Fallen Order is an Action-Adventure in Third Person perspective. Respawn said the game does not have multiplayer, or microtransactions.
Who is publishing, developing, and writing the game? And who is the protagonist? Electronic Arts is publishing the game, under contract with Disney. The Walt Disney Company purchased LucasArts, and the rights to the Star Wars brand in 2012. Respawn Entertainment is developing the game, comprised of Modern Warfare developers. The game is being directed by Stig Asmussen. Stig’s last big game release was God of War III. The story is being written by series writers, so that would mean less research, less friction about story.
The protagonist in Jedi: Fallen Order is a Padawan named Cal Kestis. The Emperor branded Jedi as traitors to the Galactic Republic, and issued an “Order 66” program. Cal tries to hide from the stormtroppers in hopes of evading the Order 66 purge.
When is Jedi: Fallen Order coming out? Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order arrives to retailers worldwide on November 15, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via EA’s Origin store.
How is the game going to play…? Respawn says the game is an Action-Adventure game, where you control Cal from a Third Person perspective, with your lightsaber. According to Stig, the game isn’t a button-masher, the gameplay is “thoughtful.” Vince Zampella says Star Wars is in his DNA, and story is important to him, and his team at Respawn. There are platforming, puzzle elements in the game to help aid your journey in Jedi: Fallen Order.
Why is Electronic Arts interested in releasing a single player game? Well, glad you asked: Disney is releasing Star Wars Episode XI: The Rise of Skywalker…
