  • Activision takes Black Ops 2 for Wii U seriously

Activision takes Black Ops 2 for Wii U seriously

There seems to be some controversy concerning the Wii U version of Black Ops 2, because it’s said to come in 1080p Full HD, which to us shows that Activision is taking this console seriously. Now while this might sound controversial to you, it’s the reaction from Xbox 360 and PS3 users that has our attention because they don’t seem too pleased.

Activision takes Black Ops 2 for Wii U seriously

We’re not trying to upset anyone here, but this doesn’t come as any surprise because it’s newer technology than the current-gen consoles. Okay, we’re not saying that the Wii U is next-gen tech, but on paper it has more power than the 360 and the PlayStation 3. However, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves and believe that Nintendo’s upcoming console is a much better system than what’s already out there because while the Wii U has 2GB of RAM only 1GB of it is usable because the other GIG is for the OS. And while the GPU is pretty decent, a few developers have said that the PS3 and the Xbox 360 GPUs are still a little ahead.

Back to the story, having Black Ops 2 running at 1080p should on paper mean that this will be the best version of the latest Call of Duty title according to Nintendo, but are they forgetting one thing, the PC. While console lovers will hate the thought the PC version is the better option when it comes to graphics.

We love in the video below how Rich Masucci shares his opinion on how the PS3 and Xbox 360 fans have been reacting to the news that the Wii U version of Black Ops 2 will be running at 1080p. He finds it surprising that they would be defending their systems when they’re 6 and 7 years old. His greatest point is when he discusses how he finds it strange how certain gamers want to see a system fail, where it’s clear that the more competition is much better for the gamer because we get better games from it.

On a final note, Nintendo will not waste their time and effort developing a new console that was not going to be more powerful than the current systems available. However, for all you PS3 and Xbox 360 fans out there you can feel safe in the knowledge that when their successors are released they will be even more powerful than the Wii U, but for now let’s embrace Nintendo’s latest console and hope it succeeds.

Black Ops II Wii U footage features jetpacks

Activision has released a 30 second video clip of single-player footage from the Wii U version of Call Of Duty: Black Ops II, featuring squirrel suits, jet packs, and what looks to be a silky smooth frame rate.

Although Black Ops II was only mentioned in passing during the European Wii U preview last week it was a centrepiece of the American event, with the footage below introduced by Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg.

At the time he promised the game would run at a full 60 frames per second and would incorporate the ‘full Call Of Duty’ experience, including multiplayer and – it’s implied – Zombies mode. The game will also feature Wii U exclusive features such as using the GamePad touchscreen as a map and allowing co-op play from one console, with one player on the GamePad and the other on the TV.

Details are still sketchy though and it’s not clear when exactly the Wii U version will be released. It’s currently only in the ‘launch window’, but last week so too was Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and that’s already been upgraded to launch day (November 30 in the UK). We wouldn’t be surprised to find Black Ops II and others follow the same route.

In other Black Ops II news what purports to be a list of single-player missions and multiplayer maps has appeared on the Se7enSins forum, based on information supposedly dug out of the beta multiplayer code. Whether it’s accurate or not we couldn’t say but we’re not repeating it here for fear of spoilers, so

  • Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 Outed For Wii U By Ratings Board

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 Outed For Wii U By Ratings Board

Could it be? Is it true? According to a listing by the Brazilian ratings board it’s possible that we could be seeing a Wii U SKU of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 perched up on store shelves alongside an Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release. Of course, it’s always possible that someone took the painstaking time to Photoshop the whole thing for some “lulz”.
According to a spotting by Go Nintendo, the ratings board has appropriately given the game an ‘M’ for Mature rating or ’18+’ certification. This holds some weight only because Go Nintendo later followed up on the post with an additional listing for the possible release window of the Wii U, which seems to set it on the third week of November. While the listing is for a South American release, if we translate that into American greed, it would probably be either November 5th or November 12th. You can take your pick.

The billion dollar holiday prince, Bobby Kotick, probably couldn’t resist the urge to get in on some of that sweet, sweet money that Nintendo is bound to bring with it when launching the new console.
The information really does seem to match up, though. And tomorrow we’re expected to get a full rundown of the Wii U’s pricing and dates from Nintendo, so we’ll be able to tell if the above info is verified or not by the Big ‘N’ soon enough. This probably also puts the editors at Go Nintendo in constipation-mode because if the rumors turn out to be true they can take all the credit for breaking the news first. If it turns out to be false…well…”video game journalism”.
