This is a thread to discuss all things anime and manga.

Looking for advice on something to watch/read? Want to see what other people are watching/reading? Looking for someone to discuss anime with? This is the place to start.

---------

In the spirit of getting us started, here's my current watching list and a few short blurbs about some anime seasons I've just finished;

Currently Watching;

  • Hunter x Hunter - An anime about a boy named Gon and his friend Killua, who take on the world in search of Gon's father. Up to episode 135 now, and hoping something awesome comes next (like the Nen arc!)
  • Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - An anime about a brother (the underachiever) and sister (the overachiever) who enroll in a magic high school that relies heavily on a class system. From there, everything gets a little... complicated. It's still the second best (to Nanana) new anime this season IMO.

Just Finished;

#1 Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin - Season 1 (7.8/10)

This is an anime about an island that is littered with a set of unique magical items which are part of "Nanana's Collection" - the unique twist? The main character's new residence on the island is haunted by the pudding eating, video game playing ghost of Nanana! Expect some cool action scenes, a unique storyline, lots of mystery and of course a cute-as-hell ghost Nanana!

#2 Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou - Season 1 (6.7/10)

This one's about a guy who moves into a housing complex populated by misfits; you've got the pervert, the slutty college girl, the evil but cute teen and the main character's crush - the bookworm. There's also the obligatory old lady caretaker, as well as some interesting side characters - but in the end it's just another one of those romantic comedies where nothing really happens. There are some good laughs though :)

So what are you watching/reading/wondering about? :)

I finished Date A Live a while ago. One of the worst anime I've ever seen.

On another note, is Soul Eater Not any good?

Currently watching: Legend of Korra (on Book 2) if you count that as an anime/cartoon? I started watching yesterday as i heard Platinum are doing a game on it and it seemed interesting, Date a Live (started season 2 and stopped a few episodes in so need to get back to that), Fairy Tail (also need to get back to that think i stopped on ep 72)

Animes i plan on watching soon: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, The Ambition of Nobuna Oda.

I try not to overcrowd myself with too many animes at once as i get distracted and drop them for some time lol.

Request: Can we make this thread official/sticky this time? There are many of these anime threads littered around the forum and new ones keep on being made every now and then.

On topic: Currently watching the Rebuild of Evangelion (part 1), I just hope the rebuild is better and satisfying. The original series left a bad aftertaste in me after watching it.

I've watched most of those. Lol
I stoppec midway through kill la kill and I've been hearing a lot about hunter x hunter though.
Fate/zero is amazing and Mirai Nikki had one of the most confusing endings ever. Lol
I will check out some of the ones you mentioned.
Thanks!

Not really following anything right now, tried to (and will again) go through Fate/...Zero? whichever one is on netflix right now but I fall asleep. My fault for watching it at night though haha. Recently finished Inuyasha The Final Act, and went through eps I skipped for SAO. Bout to watch Season 3 of Legend of Korra if it's counted tho'.

@teflontactics Tekken in anime ftw

Definitely watch both Fate/Stay Night and Fate /Zero (in that order). They start slow but when they get going it gets good.

I just finished Seiken no Blacksmith, which wasn't what I expected but turned out to be quite good anyways - I'll give it a (7/10).
It's pretty much about a good for nothing knight who breaks her family sword, only to find a blacksmith who won't make her a good one. It's got comedy, action, fanservice and a unique twist on magic and weapons - and it is worth a watch if you're looking for something entertaining but not too serious.

I'm also about halfway through Noragami (which I think I'm about to marathon to completion) - It's kind of f$#%ing awesome, but I'll reserve my final judgement for a few hours from now :)

I watched No Game No Life over the past few days.
Great anime!
It's about a brother and a sister who together are the best gamers in the world. (for like any game)
Then they find themselves in a world where everything is decided by playing games.
Very well thought and it's pretty funny.

Bunch of new animes starting to air.

So far I'm really digging Tokyo Ghoul. Very gruesome. Feels like it has potential but time will tell. Although I like pretty much 95% of the animes that I watch lol.

I honestly liked SAO. The first half was definitely better than the 2nd half, but it was an enjoyable anime.

Would I watch it again? Probably not. There are very few animes that I actually watch more than once. But I would definitely recommend it.

Anyways, if anyone is looking for some gruesome anime, check out Tokyo Ghoul. First episode was pretty good and I'm interested to see where they take it.
