I used to watch my friends played Minecraft all the time when I was in high school. Frankly, I didn't have any intention of playing the game at all as it looks kinda boring. But a few weeks ago, I tried to pick it up on my PC as I came across a gameplay of it on Youtube and thought I should give it a try. And man, I played the game for 3 hours on straight right after I installed it. The game is not boring at all when you are the one who plays it.
I know what you mean, I saw my cousin play it when it first became popular and I was like OMG what are you playing.! What a waste of time! and now it's not only my favorite game but it's the only game that I play anymore LOL. I haven't played a regular game since I made this forum 6= months ago.

I think due to Microsoft's program for educating kids with Minecraft. Many people in Asia and Africa are making use of the game. And though those games are a bit different than regular minecraft. it seems like a good option to get people into this type of game. As there is plenty of things to do for the creativity. And it can be indeed fun too. I'd say I may introduce some of the kids around to minecraft this way.

Not gonna lie, I was like... 14ish? and I had a crush on a guy who played it a bunch :giggle: I started chatting with him and asked about it, then decided to go and get the game and learn to play in case he invited me to play with him. Was gonna keep it a secret so he thought I was just really good at the game right away ;)

Except then I decided digging a hole and burying myself for the night was a good idea since I didn't have a house, and spiders found me, so I couldn't climb out of the hole because they were waiting and I had no weapon...

Eventually I said "hey this is the situation I'm in what do I do" and he said "it's your first night, just start over"

That's a really funny story and a great way to get introduced to this amazing game. The hole idea wasn't so bad, but a house is probably ten times better :)
I was introduced to this game by a couple of friends. I always watched them play and never understood what was so great about minecraft. But as soon as I started playing it and seeing the endless possibilities this game gave me, I was amazed and decided to keep playing.

Thank you haha. The hole was the product of going "oh wait nighttime is NOW?" and having no materials. So I just dug a hole in the dirt by hand. I spent the day just exploring the island I spawned on :giggle:
Hadn't even mined any trees yet so couldn't make a sword or anything. Could just hear hissing above me and occasionally see red eyes. I literally sent the guy a message on MSN (I know, I'm that old) saying "what the hell is this hissing noise it's horrifying"

That's too funny lol, I know when I first started I thought I was going to be slick and try and take them out with a wooden pickax LOL. :cwl: Let's just say the outcome wasn't pretty LOL. :cwl: But like I say these days playing with the undead bugs my conscience way too much to play with mobs, I really wish that they were not undead, because I miss monster XP farms.

Not gonna lie, other than creepers I didn't know that enemy mobs were a thing :giggle: I'd heard all these stories about people getting their houses blown up by creepers, seen all the "That'sssss a nicccce housssse" memes online, but never actually stopped and thought "there might be other stuff too." It started getting dark, and suddenly there were zombies everywhere, and I just dug a hole and hid. Funny enough I left a 1x1 hole so that I could see when it became daylight, and nothing managed to fall down it which was lucky in itself, but of course it meant the spiders started hunting me and just stayed on top of the hole haha.

I know what you mean, I was a quick learner about the other mobs too! Zombies are built like tanks and you're going to die unless you have good armor and a good weapon. And spiders are super quick and have high hitpoints and attack fast and again you're going to die quickly unless you have good armor and a good weapon. And don't even get me started on the skeletons! They will range you to death with the bow before you can even get to them unless you have good armor and a good weapon. So I guess the moral of the story is you better stay indoors at night unless you have good gear LOL! :cwl:

The progression of it as you play longer is hilarious too.
Night one it's like OH GOD A SKELETON RUN AWAY.
Then you get your wooden sword it's "okay I'm gonna go mining, if I find an opening I can take them with my sword."
Then you get your stone sword and feel invincible until you get stuck with two/three skeletons at once.
Iron sword = NO ONE CAN DEFEAT ME I AM A LEGEND and then you find a dungeon or a cave spider spawner and you're boned.
THEN you get a DIAMOND sword and you're just the COOLEST person EVER. Until you want to fight the ender dragon and you go "oh, wow, this sucks."

Life just keeps building you up and tearing you down again :p

When we bought our Microsoft Xbox 360, we bought it together with other CDS. We basically played the game without even being aware of it's a popularity. We were too overwhelmed and busy by it. Then after some time, the CD got destroyed, so we had to buy another one and another controller for my little brother. It came a bit expensive but at least we gain fun. It's worth the price rather than playing computers with friends outside and coming home late.

You know the first time I ever played Minecraft was on the Xbox 360, my nephew was playing it and he wanted me to play it with him. And after that, I bought it on my PS4 and I only played it when he came over and then my som in~law and stepdaughter got me playing Minecraft on PC and it was over, I have been hooked ever since LOL. :cwl:

Someday, one day, who knows? Someday I suppose...
My boyfriend got me into Minecraft. I have probably played it thousands of hours. I mostly play various modded packs. My favorite one was the original Stoneblock.
