It’s been a while since Sledgehammer Games talked about Call of Duty: WWII, and divulge more information about the game’s multiplayer. During the PlayStation Media Showcase at E3 2017, Call of Duty: WWII’s multiplayer mode was revealed. However, at the time of the reveal, everyone assumed it was just a trailer for E3…
And you really couldn’t blame them; there was no HUD display anywhere in the trailer. Fret not, Activision flew out some YouTubers to Los Angeles to try out Call of Duty: WWII. I will post a few of them…

So, What’s New in Call of Duty: WWII? A few things, actually. The first thing we’re going to talk about is a new game mode called “War.” Developed collaboratively between Sledgehammer Games & Raven Software, War is an objective-based game mode where your primary objective is to either defend or attack. War works similar to most objective-based modes where your objectives intercepts as if it was halftime. So, if your current objective is to attack for that turn, then when the game intercepts, your objective turns into defense. To make things interesting, you can put up boulders, walls, and turrets to prevent the enemy from advancing to your “base” of operation. If your objective is to defend, your job is to prevent the enemy from advancing to your side of the map. If your objective is to attack, then your job is to advance to the enemy’s base of operation. Another way to make attacking interesting is the use of tanks – you can use tanks as cover to advance to the enemy’s base. You can also use the tank’s turret to attack enemies. It’s sort-of a killstreak, but not really. If you’d like to know more, Activision released a video to talk about War…
Next thing we’re going to talk about is Divisions. Sledgehammer Games tweaked the way your “Create a Class” works. With divisions, you select a Division, and there are 5 of them thus far. Each division has their own unique abilty, or abilities.
– Airborne: First to the fight, where you move fast and stay quiet
– Mountain: Focusing on precise and deadly sharpshooting
– Infantry: Be the tip of the spear
– Armored: Bringing the heaviest firepower
– Expeditionary Force: Packing heat with incendiary shells
On top of that, there is a Basic Training slot that works with any division. This Basic Training slot, Division Skill, and Division Training slots all work similar to (and replaces) the “Create a Class” system. However, both Division Skill and Division Training have their own slots, and you can’t use the same abilities, you have to use the abilities specific to that class. This sounds like a sacrifice, but it’s actually not: Each slot can upgrade to the next division bracket. To truly understand how Divisions work, take it from TmarTn, who was at E3 2017 to try out Call of Duty: WWII…
During the reveal of Call of Duty: WWII, Headquarters was teased. During E3 2017, Sledgehammer Games talked a bit more about what Headquarters is: It’s a hub where you and 47 players come together as if it’s a lobby. It’s basically your multiplayer menu, but you can also do other things in Headquarters. Sledgehammer Games says that Headquarters was inspired by how during the rise and fall of Normandy, there was a staging area where you could meet up with other soldiers, socialize with them, ready your weapons, and more. Headquarters is an expansion of the lobby system in Advanced Warfare, but also inspired by games like World of Warcraft, and/or Destiny. In headquarters, you can train (and there’s even a firing range), you can participate with others in a mini-match of sorts, to help you train your weapons and Division classes, you can talk or emote your characters to other players, you can change your Division loadouts, there’s just a lot of things you can do in Headquarters, according to Sledgehammer Games. Headquarters was not available publically at E3, but a few YouTubers were able to give a crack at Headquarters…
Michael Condrey confirmed that Headquarters will be available in the Multiplayer Beta. Speaking of the Multiplayer Beta…
